Colorado State Throwback Unis Unveiled

Pumpkin and Alfalfa!

They were apparently unveiled today. I've been scouring for photos, but none yet. I can't wait to see how ugly these things are. Can't wait!

Here’s a way to get everyone’s minds off the Rams’ 12-game losing streak and nonexistent running game: Colorado State will introduce its the retro “pumpkin and alfalfa” jerseys (school colors from 1893-1945) today at Steve Fairchild’s weekly press conference.
The occasion is the traditional Ag Day. The orange uniforms were in the planning stages since the basketball team wore them last winter.
It’s also sad that during maybe the lowest time in CSU football memory, one of its brightest stars of the past will be honored. Saturday’s 2 p.m. kickoff with Idaho represents Keli McGregor Day, the former All-America tight end and president of the Colorado Rockies. He died tragically of heart-related issues in April.
His godson, tight end Ben Tedford wears No. 88 in McGregor’s memory. Tedford and defensive end Broderick Sargent, the first winner of the scholarship in McGregor’s memory, are the designated uniform models at the press conference.
Perhaps they can lend their helmets to the coaches who will be taking some questions on more than the uniforms.
They're going to look something like this, with helmets:

I was just about to post a thread saying that, as bad as things may be for CU right now, at least people are still paying attention. It was literally this morning, as I was on my way to get a breakfast burrito, before I knew that CSU had even played on Saturday. Hadn't heard a score, didn't see anything on the news, no chatter, no discussion here... Nothing. And this on the momentous occasion of them actually scoring a TD for the first time this year (granted, it was pretty much the end of the game in a blowout loss to Miami, OH, but you take a victory where you can get it...)

The timing may be perfect on these jerseys. People will be too busy laughing at the jerseys to laugh at the team....

I guess they would like to recall the days when they were worse at football than they are now?

kinda reminiscent of a couple years ago when Iowa State honored it's Peach Bowl team from the 70's or 80's. Peach Bowl, people.

I see what you did there, well played.

 at Rammies comments on their team:

Have some faith in these guys its only 3 games into the season. one win can turn a season around. you realize how good the teams were. CU is 2-1, Nevada just beat Cal who destroyed CU and Miami nearly pulled off and upset against Florida, so stop whining and have some faith
Ummmm....none of those teams are really that good...and 1 win isn't gonna change much

Whenever I start to feel down in the dumps about the sad state of affairs of CU football, it's nice to be reminded that things could be worse - a lot worse.

Put 20 seconds on the clock.

Here it goes.

Even rams fans that have been released the state pen have an excuse to wear orange jerseys seven days a week; Saturday at the game, Sunday hunting grouse, and M-F picking up trash by the side of the highway.

The macaroni and pubes design on the sleeves really makes that pumpkin and alfalfa pop.

Those aren't even throwback jerseys, just throwback colors. Their real throwback uniforms look like this:

If CSU played Iowa State, it would look exactly like the 1968 USC-Miami game. Except, of course, for the quality of football.

I can forgive Grr-Animals (or is it Russel) for choosing a brighter hue of orange than pumpkin and a brighter shade of green than alfalfa. CSU fans only recognize colors contained in a box of Crayolas.

If 200 fans show up at Hughes wearing those trow back jerseys, that would be over half the attendence.

If you ate carrots and peas and threw up on that jersey, no one could tell.

Time.

  • Now the Rams have their Halloween costumes all ready - "Trick or Treat, we're football players, and we're fierce!"
  • These guys are just happy to be wearing something that covers their shoulder pubic hairs.
  • Which guy is pumpkin and which guy is alfalfa?
  • If they were smiling any more, I'd have thought they actually won a game this season.
  • These unis embody the spirit of the glory days of 1893. Now go and get me a prospector's hat or something to puke into.
  • Careful, live rams charge at the mere sight of throwup orange and green
Ding!

I think if you look really close, you'll see that the pubes are still there. Yay!

Why are they releasing new uniforms when their season ended two weeks ago?

Freebird has CSU throwback orange and green burritos. I'm on my way.
