UGA Picture op

Does anyone know if UGA will be at the game? This would be a great photo opportunity to see the second greatest mascot.

They don't have an official UGA right now....but a stand-in named "Russ the Dog" will be there (no joke)

Would be cool if they brought the dog over by where Ralphie stands before the game.....even if it's a pseudo uga

The damn UGA bulldogs keep dropping dead. They are pretty cool dogs in terms of temperament, but pretty much a shoe in for extinction without human breeding thanks to their horrendous physical problems.

Uga the Seventh died unexpectedly last fall, on November 19th. A substitute dog (called the interim uga) was at subsequent games, but was not officially named UGA, while an extensive serach of the Uga bloodline is conducted.

They are set to crown Uga VIII in October, 2010, but a week or two after the CU game. If a dog shows up Saturday, it's a Georgia fan, but not the real UGA the 8th. The mascots are all related, it's a 54-year dynasty from the original.

true story, just text my bud who is a dawg fan and asked him how Uga 7 died...he said "like most Georgians....fat, dumb, and scratching his ass". sums it up...

uhhh, maybe they need a new bloodline?

Why is Uga the 2nd greatest mascot? He just seems like a stupid fat ass dog to me.

1. He has a cool name.
2. He has an air conditioned dog house.
3. He rocks a red sweater much better than Jim Tressel or Bobby Knight could ever hope to.
4. Most importantly, he attracts the Georgia Co-eds like a 1-year-old sheep attracts fuskers.

It's tough to judge which Bulldog themed mascot it rated highest.

don't forget about UT's Smokey

That bulldog has a stunning smile.
But the overgrown wiener dog in the sleeping bag ain't much to look at.

Here's a case for UGA, the girl magnet, baby lover and reliable guard dog.

I could get a picture with a bulldog anyday...with a buffalo? A wee bit harder to do.

The alternate, substitute, faux uga is visiting --- cubuffs has in the gameday notes.

NO. 1 & NO. 2 MEET IN BOULDER SATURDAY
There have been 49 times when the Nos. 1 and 2 teams in the polls have met on the football field (44 of the those matching the top two teams in the Associated Press poll). But this Saturday, the top two teams in a different AP poll will meet in Boulder: the wire service recently did a national survey among its college poll voters on
who has the coolest mascots, and Colorado and Georgia owned the top two spots.

CU’s live buffalo, Ralphie V, came in ranked number one, while Georgia’s live bulldog, Uga VIII, occupied the number two spot. Ralphie made the trip to Athens in 2006, when the host Bulldogs rallied for a 14-13 win; UGA is scheduled to visit Boulder for the sequel.

The top dozen mascots as selected by the Associated Press:
1. Colorado (Ralphie, live buffalo)
2. Georgia (Uga, live bulldog)

3. Florida State (Chief Osceola & Appaloosa horse)
4. LSU (Mike the Tiger; caged feline)
5. Auburn (golden eagle swoops down pregame)
6. Stanford (student in a tree costume)
7. Texas (Bevo, live longhorn steer)
8. West Virginia (the mountaineer, complete with buckskin suit and coonskin cap)
9. Texas Tech (masked rider on a black horse)
10. Michigan State (Sparty, a costumed mascot)
11. Notre Dame (leprechaun)
12. Oregon (a fighting, costumed Donald Duck)
