CU Ticket Policy

Can someone explain why CU requires all children any age to have their own ticket for the game? I can see needing a ticket if they are over 2 or whatever, but requiring a ticket for someone that can't sit up without help is just stupid.

I've asked this question, and the response is that it has to do with seating capacity. Somebody with a 1 year old probably has a bunch of diaper bags, stroller, etc, that take up space even though the child him/herself does not. They want to ensure that there is always adequate space for every ticket holder. That's the company line, anyway.

It is a stupid rule and they should change it. I bitched about it a few years ago to no avail. They wanted me to buy a season ticket for my then-6 month old. Lol.

I've heard the same thing that Sackman heard when I talked to Bohn about it a few years ago. IMO, it's bs, especially when the Nuggets, Broncos, & Rockies all have the under 2 exception rule. Doesn't help promote families going.. I get the argument of why even bring a baby in, or find a babysitter, but it still strikes me as a horribly unfriendly policy from CU.

I think it's a combination of the PC reply that Sacky received and and other people just not wanting the kids around them.

Apologies to those who have kids, but if they are under the age of 8 please leave them home. Infants cry and scream and become a massive distraction. Once they are old enough to move around, my VERY unfortunate experience is that they don't give a crap about the game, get bored easily, and start running around being a nuisance. Naturally any parents who respond to this accusation will say "not MY children" to which I can only say, good for you for lying to yourself because all kids do it at one point or another. If CU wants to charge for children of any age to be there, I say more power to them. Gotta boost revenue anyhow.

How is the view up there on your high horse?

My 7 year old does great at games. He sits in his seat and I keep him entertained with sunflower seeds and lemonade or hot chocolate, which he loves. I pay for his tickets, too, so he has every bit as much right to be there as you do.

The view would be fine if these damn kids weren't popping their heads into my line of sight every couple of minutes.
As stated...good for you. Glad your child is so well behaved and that he has never been a nuisance. If every child acted that way, I wouldn't have to feel the way I do. Unfortunately every time i go to a game there seems to be some child freaking out and causing a scene. If an adult was acting that way, they would be removed from the stadium regardless of how much they paid for the ticket.

Young kids cannot sit still for 3+ hours.

But I really have a problem with anyone saying they shouldn't be brought to a game. IMO, people with zero tolerance for kids are just as big of assholes as parents who tolerate bad public behavior from their kids.

P.S. I bought 3 tickets this year and we don't really use them all. Saturday, just my wife and I are going since the game goes past bedtime. For an afternoon game, my wife and son will do the tailgate, leave for his nap, and then come back around halftime. Seems to work out well.

I guess it depends on your definition of zero tolerance. I'm extremely tolerant of the kids, I just get very annoyed by their behavior. If I had no tolerance, I'd ask to be moved to a different section if I saw a child in the section. How long are those of us without kids supposed to tolerate the hijinx of an out of control child before we're allowed to say anything? Most of the time if you mention a child's behavior to it's parent at a sporting event they get pissed. But I'm the bad guy for not wanting screaming kids going to a sporting event for free that I had to pay for...oops, my bad.

So nobody should stand at a game and block your view, eh? Are you special?

How do you propose parents teach their kids how to act in public without taking them out in public?

Not all kids are perfectly behaved all the time. They're kids. I never said my kid was perfectly behaved all the time because he's not - but he's pretty damn good 95%+ of the time. But he has every bit as much right to be at that game as you do. If you don't like it, I don't give a ****.

What is worse, a kid whining that they want to leave, or an obnoxious drunk spouting every obscenity in the book in close proximity to said kid? I know which one I think it is. But I'm sure you have never been that guy, right?

People without kids who don't want to be around kids crack me up. As if you were never kids yourselves.

So you're tolerant of kids so long as they do not act like kids. Got it.

So now it's screaming kids? Up above you mentioned you hate it when kids stand up in front of you. Something tells me you don't want to be around kids at all but you can't say that because you know how bad it makes you look.

You sound like the CU fan that is always yelling at me to sit down cause they can't see. Little kids are not in your line of sight if you stand up.

The only difference here is that the pro teams have actual seats while Folsom is bleachers. With seats, you can ensure that someone is only taking up the space for their seat. With the bleachers, it seems like we're always squeezed into about 3/4 of a seat as it is.

Leave it to you, Rino, to not be able to recognize a joke. Typical.
Your child does indeed have every right to be at the game, just as much as I do, as long as he has a ticket. If he makes a scene or starts causing problems for everyone around him, then he should be removed...just as should the obnoxious drunk shouting obscenities (I don't abide people doing that either...especially if it is near kids).
I have no idea how a parent should go about teaching their kids how to behave in public. I know that I WAS that annoying little kid at exactly one sporting event. I also know that I was promptly removed from said event by my parents, and that I didn't get another chance to go to a sporting event for a couple of years. Not right for everyone, but it worked for me and made me understand that my behavior was unacceptable.
I've been drunk at games. I am loud. I don't shout obscenities at games because I know there are kids around.

The standing kids thing was a joke. You don't understand those because you are abjectly humorless and have been for as long as you've been on this board.

And you a guy that does not like kids and have been for as long as you have been on this board.

Just so we're straight on this. I'll wait for BEBG to come jump in the fray now.

Sorry all. Let me clarify.
[JOKE](referencing view from high horse)The view would be fine if these damn kids weren't popping their heads into my line of sight every couple of minutes.[/JOKE]
I stand at the games at appropriate times, and get just as annoyed by people who tell me to sit down.

I have no problem with kids coming to games. I went to my first CU game at 4, and started going regularly at 6 or 7. My daughter would probably be going to a buch of games this year, but her soccer league always plays on Saturdays. Next year, no Fall Soccer for her.

She loves the games, BTW. She loves Ralphie. She loves Chip. She loves the cheerleaders. She doesn't have the first idea how the game of football is played or what team she's supposed to be rooting for. I don't care.

Just to clarify...

Rino's 7 year old does great at games because Rino was too cheap to buy season tickets and the poor kid is paralyzed by fear of heights.

meh.

it is really not that combative. you bring a kid to an event like a game and you entertain them and keep them under control. if they act up, you correct it. if they continue, you pull them out so as to not to continue to disturb others.

i've only rarely seen parents in public places and such just ignore it when their kids are bothering others. it just doesn't happen that often.

the exception to this observation would be when the bothered third party has an unusual sensitivity to the way children behave (aka CURMUDGGEON!)

_Bluto: What the **** happened to the Delta I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? This could be the greatest night of our lives, but you're gonna let it be the worst. "Ooh, we're afraid to go with you Bluto, we might get in trouble." Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. Wormer, he's a dead man! Marmalard, dead! Niedermeyer...

Otter: Dead! Bluto's right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part.

Bluto: We're just the guys to do it.

D-Day: Let's do it.

Bluto: *Let's do it*!
