but goddamn, we have to be the dumbest. We scream when our team is on offense, we try and start the wave in the middle of the third quarter, we rush the field after beating a 1-3 team. Just embarrassing.

who gives a **** about the rushing of the field... seriously... they have had nothing to enjoy the last 3 plus years... its been abomination after abomination... relax wispy and tell your hot friend im sorry for what happened at the sacky gate

Dumb for rushing the field but what **** our fanbase is starving for wins. If you try to look on the positive side it should send a message to the administration that this place is a ****ing goldmine just like coach Mac and Barny say. If CU would just dump some money into facilities and coaching we could be an elite power. We have a small fanbase but they are rabid and hungry for wins. We got one tonight so I'm happy. Go Buffs!!!

Easily my favorite BCS post to date.

I'm cool with it for now. I look forward to CU fans expecting to win again and reserving the field rush for 30+ beatdowns of ranked rivals.

But let the kids have fun. I'm sure it had a positive impact on recruits (official and unofficial visitors).

I love that we rush the field, these are kids playing a sport they love and don't get paid for it. For the players it has to be a blast when the students rush the field to go celebrate with them. I say rush the field after every win against a BCS school!

I care, and so do many other fans. I'm with wispy, and I've been saying this for a long time. We have some of the dumbest fans around. I remember as a student trying to explain to people to stop yelling when we're on offense. Our fans just aren't real football fans - there's no knowledge of the game for most of them. The games are just an excuse to get belligerently drunk for many. While this may be true at most campuses around, you don't see them get really loud when the offense is facing a third down. ...and that idiotic "key" ringing for opponent third downs is another dumb thing. Jingling your keys is nowhere close to as loud as clapping and yelling...

Rushing the field is for big wins - and when you're supposed to be a big time college program, big wins are not against 1-3 teams. Sure Georgia is a name school, but that doesn't mean they're a good team this year. Rushing the field also typically happens when a small time school over achieves and beats a better team - e.g. underdog wins. Our idiot fans rushing the field all the damn time makes us look like a small time school that wasn't supposed to win (YES...I know we suck right now...but that doesn't mean our overall program does). It puts us in a class below what we're supposed to be. I can't stand it. It makes us look like amateurs. 2001 Nebraska was the last time we should have rushed the field, because it was a HUGE game...and the previous handful of defeats from Nebraska were just heartbreaking.

We are angry when they don't show up, we are angry when they seem complacent, we are angry when they throw stuff on the field, we are angry when they yell obscenities...

Last they they showed up, they were exuberant, they wore black, they were excited, they painfully watched Hawkins give up field position late in the game with a retarded 52 yard field goal and then they saw the gift with the fumble. Hell yeah they ran on the field, I would have ran with them, not because we were celebrating clinching a championship, but because I did everything that was asked of me by my school and I wanted to take part in the win. Piss on that fake golf clap by the Nubsker fans for beating a directional Kentucky school, we still ran for over 200 yards against a SEC defense....

i'm not crazy about rushing the field, but kids having fun. they see it on TV and want that as part of their college experience.

Im not crazy about it but what the hell? Hasnt been a whole lot to cheer about, think they should get a pass on this one. Tell you what, the atmosphere sounded great on tv. How was it in person for those that went? I enjoyed watching it, very good game.

we haven't been a big time school as of late... let them have their fun... if you are that damn embarrassed turn the game off after the clock hits zero

There were, repordedly, over 7,000 Georgia fans. Maybe they were a big part of the noise makers when we had the ball?

The student support is so much better now than it was 10 years ago. I love that. So they rushed the field. So what? It is good to see the students show some passion. Now, get them out of school, let them start making money and donating to the program. Who knows? Maybe the next Bill Gates rushed the field last night.

There is no way you could have that kind of knowledge unless you were educated at some point on the east coast. You are the man... well said. When I went to CU, I made it my duty to teach the locals and Californians how to be a good, knowledgable football fan.

I will be the lone Eagle fan cheering McNabb today at the Linc....

I did turn it off when I saw the rushing of the field...it was seriously that annoying...

But that doesn't fix anything does it? It still happens... No **** we haven't been a big school of late, but CU is still a solid program overall. It's annoying to have other fans laugh at us, because our students are storming the field for a win against a 1-3 opponent.

DBT - I couldn't be at the game, but I'd be surprised if the 7000 GA fans were the main noise starters. Every CU game I've been to (except for road games, because at those games, the fans seem more educated about the program), the CU student section is loud during moments they should be silent, and shaking their keys when they should be making more noise. I also highly doubt your statement that student support is "so much better now than it was 10 years ago." I was a student 10 years ago, and we supported the program pretty well. Were we amazing, no. But, I think we were at least supportive as the kids are now.

There it is. East coast bias!

I have no big problem with rushing the field because the game was so tight in the fourth quarter and the win was unexpected with the late fumble. I have a bigger problem with the older fans I saw leaving with 4 minutes left and the game within a field goal. On the other hand, starting a wave when WE have the ball in the fourth quarter does qualify as "dumb".

You could be right. My memory banks are old and rusty. But I sure don't remember the student sections as filled as they have been lately. I'll defer to you though, since you were a student ten years ago and I was on the brink of old. At any rate, I like the way the students are showing up. Maybe they aren't as sophisticated as you guys would like. But they are showing up and having a blast and I like that.

I'm pretty sure we're all going to have to agree to disagree.

But, I do agree entirely with your point about people leaving early. Sure, it's people's perogative to leave as they need to, but I was (am) always annoyed with how little emotion some fans show. You have the drunk kids that don't know how to properly channel their energy, and then you have some alums that aren't willing to even clap loudly on key third downs...I'm not saying the alums need to get boisterously loud like the students, but some cheers/chants/noise from them would help.

Yes, let's rush the field after beating iowa state, baylor, kansas etc... SMALL TIME.

I hope we do. What is wrong with kids rushing the field and the players having fun? These are not paid athletes.

the fans are not athletes... I am afraid some of those overweight drunken fans will pull a muscle on that natural grass..... it is a safety issue.
