To my Colorado friends - The final Matchup

As this is the final Mizzou-CU game for a very long time, I just wanted to thank the Buff fans for being brothers in Husker hating arms over the years. We have had our differences over the years in terms of close games...hell, even monumental games with National Title implications. (OK, maybe not for us..but for you guys) But in the end, you stood with us and remembered that sport is sport and games are just games...but evil is pure evil.

I don't speak for any Mizzou fan other than myself, but I'd like to say that I for one will miss the Buff's efforts in not only carrying the North torch for many years..but for kicking Hick Nation in the gut on multiple occastions. From Hagan to Pessavento, I have rooted for you to defeat evil, just as I hope you have rooted for our boys. It was a silent, but great partnership that will be missed I'm sure.

So good luck this Saturday and congrats on your big win this past weekend. We will of course be enemies for the remainder of the week...but afterward, we'll shake hands...go our seperate ways...and continue to battle pure red evil wherever it may be. And if you're a Husker lurker here..as I know there are many of you....may you rot in hell and may your favorite red sweater be stained with your own humiliation, tears and the blood of a brutal reality that is about to come your way the remainder of this season.

Thanks again, and good luck.

Your pal,
AJ

You were the one with the husker hater blog right? If so thank you for all the fun reading.

@AJ
Cheers. May the winner of this weekend's game go on to win the B12.

You were the one with the husker hater blog right? If so thank you for all the fun reading.

Yes, and you're welcome. Perhaps some other team will rise again, and take a fan base and/or entire state to ridiculous arrogant heights never before matched by mankind? It was fun while it lasted though.

I'm assuming this is AJ from the Huskerh8er blog.....

All I gotta say is that your old blog is some of the funniest **** I have ever read. I loved that stuff man.

Loved the old blog AJ!! You so clearly spelled out the hatred the rest of us feel for the corn.

AJ,

I have read your blog with great amusement. I owe you for many laughs, especially during the Callahan years. You are truly one of kind and alright by me, even if you aren't a Buff. Our mutual dislike for the red empire of evil is quite sufficient in my book. Stay strong, except for this weekend, and beat the crap out of the Mack 10 in years to come, I'll be pulling for MU to whiz in UT's mess kit....

AJ a lot of us have read the blog and we know that you truly supported the buffs in their fight against the red. Hope you guys can make the Big 10 and get out from the Texas scorn.

Thank you fellas...appreciate it.

Just wanted to make sure I reached out to you guys this week as I've thought that way for a long time. (Watching the 89 NU-CU game was one of my first true tastes of what a sham Husker fan was/is. I look back on it fondly often) Anyway, the lack of a true rivalry between MU-CU just goes to show we fight for the common good. A lot of the press (At least on this end of the conference) goes to Nebraska and what they're doing...but I for one will miss the CU-Mizzou matchups more. (Hanging with CU fans in Columbia in 08 was a great time as well).

I'm not one for lame shows of false affection...but I figured the least I could do was to log in this week and say thanks. And quite frankly..I for one hope we can get out of this conference at some point too...but unfortunately, our options are quite a bit more limited than you guys and the Hicks. We'll see how it pans out.

Appreciate you dropping by AJ - I'm another fan of your blog and sorely miss it - thanks for the many laughs you have given me throughout the years, and good luck the rest of the season after this Saturday...

Thanks. I miss writing it sometimes, but when you step back and look...they are simply a different program than they once were. Sure they'll never truly SUCK, because they're a "name" program, and that's just how college football works. However, that whole aura of invincibility and superiority is long gone and aint coming back any time soon..no matter what they say.

I'm just glad I got a chance to chronicle it when I did. I go back and read the archives from 2007 quite a bit and man...I couldn't re-write that script of a season better if I tried. THere was nowhere to go from there but retirement.

AJ,

What will you do in the future without NU as a conference member? Spread the gospel to the Big Ten? If so, keep up the good work!

Nah, they're an afterthought after this year. Oh sure they'll be annoying and arrogant etc etc...but they'll be Iowa's problem...not mine. As for hate...I think in terms of my blood pressure, I'll go back to the old Mizzou standby and rip on Kansas. (Although when you lose to Baylor 55-7, it's not tough to make fun of you).

AJ, your Blog was absolutely awesome. Thanks for the good reads. Kick some butt in the Mack 12!

NP. Thank you guys for reading it.

While I'm over here hanging out...what's the read on the game in Columbia this week? Gotta have some good momentum after Georgia no? Mizzou is already looking ahead to going into Oklahoma 6-0. (Which is dumb, considering they have to also go to A&M..which isn't exactly a parking lot in Moberly).

The one thing CU was lacking IMO over the last few meetings was confidence. You guys are getting Mizzou at the right time I think. On the other hand...Mizzou's receivers have been playing well of late, and Gabbert has looked stronger over the past 6 quarters or so. Defense is suprisingly strong this year as well.

Should be good.

Our read is that our head coach has apparently never even watched game film of the Missouri offense and has no freaking idea how to stop it. He hasn't come close in four years, and there's nothing to indicate he's magically figured it out now. Add in the fact that he has an abyssmal road record, and this game is viewed as a near automatic "L" for the Buffs.

Well if it makes you guys feel any better...our guys are EXTREMELY inconsistant. The same team that can squeak by a good-but-by-no-means-great San Diego St. team...can blow the doors off of a bad-but-gave-Florida-a-run Miami (OH) team.

Who the hell knows. All I know is that when our fans start asking questions like "YOu think Gameday will be at the OU game in COlumbia?"...stuff starts to go bad...usually quickly.

In a normal world, I'd say we should have confidence and momentum going into Mizzou. But as Sacky pointed out, Hawk hasn't a clue on how to handle the Tigers. Combine that with the horrid road record and our (fan) confidence isn't there. Maybe the players have it though. Of course, going into the Cal game, the same thing could be said. We had over 7k fans out there and the players were talking about how great it would be to play in front of a "friendly" away crowd. Uhh, didn't work out so well.

Ignoring the coaching aspect, I'd say our two corners should match up pretty well with anything Mizzou has at WR. If MU goes into a 3 WR set often, then we might have some trouble given the fact we can't keep our nickel backs healthy and are currently running 4th string there. D-line has been solid, but not tons of pressure on the QB. Linebackers are probably the strength of the D.

On O, our rushing attack has improved as of late. Hansen looks like he's getting more and more comfortable in his role at QB and we've got a solid set of WRs. The weak link has been the o-line, but they do seem to be coming together. Still giving up too much pressure, which makes Hansen rely on his scrambling ability more than I think we'd all like, and doesn't provide the time to hit the WRs.

Not sure what's being said out there, but with our 20th anniversary of the '90 championship team, there's been a lot of recap and rehashing of the 5th down game. I'd assume that Pinkel & crew would want to "avenge" that one last time, and combine that with it being CU's Big 12 farewell tour (and the previously mentioned inability to win on the road or have a clue on how to stop Mizzou), I just don't think Saturday night goes very well for the Buffs.

AJ - I loved your blog and commented on it many many times.

What happened to the picture on the blog's masthead (that is currently unavailable)? The pic of the dejected facepainted Husker fan with the cob on his head? I've looked everywhere for that, if you still have it and can post it in this thread, I'd be grateful.

I'll miss the Mizzou game alot, although the last four years have been outright painful. I hold the 2008 58-0 loss as bad as any other in CU history, and I think Mizzou doesn't get the credit it deserves for how good they have been in the last decade (even before Chase Daniel, those Brad Smith teams were good and fun to watch). The 1990 game is of course legendary.

I know you've retired your blog, but if you've ever had a reason to "get the band back together" for one more post, having Nebraska (and Colorado) leave the conference and the rivalries behind might be it.

Well one thing CU will have in their favor is Aldon Smith being out. That guy has been a beast and is getting better every day on the D-line. It will stink having him not in there, but the younger backups on that side of the line have played OK.

Agree also with Hansen from what I've seen. Always thought he had a lot of talent, but never really settled into a grove with the guys around him...dunno..didn't seem he meshed real well. I will say when the game gets tight, he seems to hold up under the pressure, which in many cases is 1/2 the battle.

One thing I do remember from last year was Alexander getting lose in the secondary on you guys early on. TJ Moe takes over that role now, and is averaging almost 10 catches per game. With the improved secondary, I don't expect him to have a huge game, but the guy you have to look out for is Egnew at tight end. (IE - Big receiver like Chase Coffman). He's improved as well and has been punishing interior linebackers most of the year...I think he's 5th in the nation in receptions per game.

The CU running game concerns me...even with Mizzou's improvement in stopping the run.

someone needs to send this to dallasdog or whatever his name is. its not just us!

I love hearing that and knowing that it is all because of 1 game.... and I witnessed it first hand.

I think MU will end up in the B10 in the next 3-4 years. The Mack 10 will not last long. Texas is going indy IMO.

AJ -Most all of your stuff was funny s*hit!! But if I'm Mizzou, I don't hang around in the Big Tex conferance any longer than I have to. It's Doomed! The flip side of the equation is that if the tigers do leave and end up in the same conferance with the Butthuskers your school will have alot of fans from here rooting against the chidren of the corn everytime you play them. On the same token, your school will make more $$$ in the B10, have far better away game destinations, out from under the watchful eyes of Texass schools and their whipping boy Beebe.

AJ, just wanted to add my thank you to all the others. I loved your blog. I used to quote it and send it around to my friends. I'll miss your blogs, and our shared hatred of the children of the corn.

I know we'll both be rooting for the Purple power pussies Thursday, good luck in the Texas-10 conference, I personally liked it better when it was just us in the Big-8. But, times they are a changin'...

Thanks for stopping by, rep, and good luck, er, not really, we need the luck more than you do.
