I know how frustrating it has been to be a Colorado fan. I have been one for a while. I have been quietly reading this site for a long long time and the average post this year has been so horrifying to read to felt it was time to address it. I know this is my first post and I'm sure I'm going to get e-torn a new one, but its time to stop complaining. I realize Hawk has made it harder to Gold and Black proudly but for the teams sake and the players sake its time to shut up. We are 3-1 with wins over higher quality opponents then Mizzou has seen (not by much but still).

You read the average topic and based on our attitudes it sounds like we are 0-4. I realize the past hasn't been fun, but so far this year I have enjoyed watching the games and there is plenty more games to come.

Obviously there needs to be some talk about the coaching staff and some of the horrifying calls we have seen but almost every topic turns into some sort hate board. I wouldn't be surprised if half of us had Voodoo dolls of Hawk and were stabbing it right now. I lived with Josh Hardigan and J-Fly and know most of the team and some of their biggest complaints were how they felt the fans werent behind them. SO if for nothing else then the desire to see some W's and support the players (and for our own general health) lets cut back on Hawk= Satan rhetoric come up with some new material.

Sorry for the long Post and as always, GO BUFFS,

until last season, I have never been a basher.... but really... if we couldn't bash.... what would we talk about on here .......(crickets)....

I mean DBT can make only a finite number of ridiculous comments that we can twist into more stupidity

I think the point is that we are 3 - 1 and the team is definitely trending in a positive direction. All threads don't need to turn negative.

I agree. I was so happy after the Georgia game. Then I came on Allbuffs and you would think we had lost. I thought I'd be celebrating with my compatriots but instead I was bummed out by them.

It's because most of us can't trust a coach who babbles & make no sense most of the time, calls for two point conversions when not needed, goes for 52 yd FG's when everyone in the stadium knows it won't be made, never takes the blame for a loss, hasn't won a road game in 3 years, keeps certain assistant coaches on his staff when they should have been fired a long time ago ...... should I go on ????

count da money... unbunch your panties and take it one game at a time we can be happy until Saturday night...

I said this on AZ's earlier and I mean it.

I'm done worrying about Hawkins. Nothing is going to change for a couple months and it's not fun for me to bitch about him. We're 3-1. I'm going to enjoy that.

And maybe we'll get on a run. Probably not, but maybe. But if we did end up having a great season, I want to be able to look back on it and remember having a good time. So I'm done wasting my time on Hawkins.

Amen brotha....this place has been a bit too doom & gloom for too long...keep seeing a few more people come out of the doldrums with each win...would love to get a long awaited road win this weekend to really get some big time excitement brewing...would make for an electric Folsom & AllBuffs for Baylor....think everyone here are great fans that support the team no matter what, but many need something substantive to grasp & believe in now...Can't say we don't deserve it!

Umm. No. Not till hawk wins 9 or is gone. I will enjoy the season tho.

Same ... but I'm more along the lines of 10 wins as this is where we should be at this point anyway-
and yes I'll enjoy the peaks but will still bitch about the valleys....

No you should stay on an even keel and never get high or low about the team. We should not be excited about a 3-1 start. Emotions and football do not mix. Blue collar. Razor hair.

I like our players though.

This member of the AllBuffs chorus likes it when CU wins consecutive games. Winning is the cure to negativity. If CU somehow manages to beat Mizzou and snap that current losing streak on the road, the comments on the board will be positive. If CU were to administer a beatdown, the comments will be ecstatic.

Dan Hawkins and needs to win 15 straight to get to 500.

Make no mistake: Another humiliating road loss like we saw in California, or a repeat of the 2008 Mizzou game, is unacceptable.
You think the comments are harsh now....

The players should take comfort that fans are invested into the program with an emotional stake in the outcome of the game and the performance of the coach. The alternative is to win, or deal with empty seats and crummy or no TV coverage.

I find this hard to believe. DBT's comments cannot possibly be made to look more stupid.

F uck tard!

Yeah, I tried being Mr. Positive for 9 or 10 months because, well darn it, I'm just a positive guy. And I took it, man. Attack after attack. I entered the season with my fingers crossed, believeing I woud be vendicated. But the csu game really turned me off. We should have put 40+ on them. At that point and considering our dirth in recruiting, I just decided that Hawkins is not the guy to take us where we should be.

At the same time, I have always believed in the men on this team. I think we have talent. I also have seen a lot of things to like in the coaching staff. But my faith in Dan Hawkins took a big hit.

Now I've seen the kids coming through. I've seen the offensive and defensive game plans and execution really improve. I see hope that this season can be successful. I can make a case for us winning almost every remaining game. I can also make a case for us losing every remaining game. Now I'm stuck in some kind of wierd limbo. I kind of think we need a change. But I kind of think this team could end up being special. However I kind of think that if it does, it is despite Hawkins. But I kind of think Hawkins might just be better than we think. I'm just one confused puppy!

I give my money to the AD with ticket purchases, donation $$, merchandise, ... I scream my ass off during games. I show up early to the games. I stay until the end of games. I 100% love the Buffs. When we're not winning, it pisses me off and I need to vent. When I see our program being (mis)led by what appears to be a highly questionable head coach (and some questionable assistant coaches), I'll complain. I'm sick and tired of Mike Bohn, Dan Hawkins, Dave Plati, et al telling me that I need to shut up and just blindly support the program. It doesn't work both ways, you don't get highly passionate fans that commit their time & money & energy to the program and not expect them to question the direction when it seems to be headed in the wrong direction.

Once Hawk can prove this year is somehow different from past years (must win on the road at a minimum) and that there is real hope for the future, then I will change my tone.

That said, I'm happy we're 3-1. I had expected 2-2 at this point in the season, but the real test is coming.

Felt the same way at times

The fans do support this program, we have a coach that won under 1/3 of his games over the prior 4 years including loses to Montana State, Toledo (a huge national TV blowout,) CSU, ISU, KSU, KU, almost to Eastern Washington at home, etc. We have heard him take no responsibility for the loses and fail to make changes needed to fix the problem. This year the team is 3-1 but one win is against a CSU team that had lost 9 straight coming into the game and was starting a true Frosh QB, another win was over a Hawaii team that at best is a lower to mid WAC team that hadn't been home in 12 days, the third win came against an SEC opponent but one that is now 1-4 and likely would have won the game had AJGreen not cramped up.

Despite all this the team has enough support to keep to message boards active and caring, CU merchandise is still selling well, and most importantly 45,000+ are still paying for tickets and showing up at home games and a lot more are watching on TV.

Yes the team is 3-1 this year with a win over a SEC opponent. The players are enthusiastic and the stadium is a fun place to be but the fans have a right not to be happy. Win 8-9 games a season for a couple of years, beat some legitimate opponents, win some road games, re-earn some respect.

I am another one of the older posters here, almost as old as DBT and have seen a lot of CU football. I support the players to the end, I want them to win every game and have a great experience in their time in the Black and Gold. I want the best players on the field but support and respect every guy who puts on that uniform and goes out there with the CU on his helmet from the highest rated recruits, to the NFL prospects, to the roles players who go out there and give their best so others can get the glory, to the last walk-on on the practice field working hard to prepare the regulars, knowing that he is likely never to hear his name on the speakers at Folsom field.

I also respect Coach Hawkins as a person. I see him as a guy who wants the very best for his team, who has given everything he has to the job, and hurts with every loss as well. I also respect him as a decent man who has done a huge job in moving the image of the program and its players in the university, city, state and national image. I also think he has recruited better than he is given credit for and the talent level of this team is much higher overall than he found it when he came. He is loyal to a fault to his family, his coaches, and his players.

The problem is that this isn't division III feel good football, this isn't a place where you get credit and a little trophy for trying hard. This is big-time, big-boy, national level BCS college football and you are judged based on the scoreboard. Hawkins gets paid very well to take the heat if his team doesn't do the job, some of that money is coming directly from a lot of the posters on this board, who are still putting it out despite the pathetic showing on the field. At this level it is simple, win and make the school look good and you get lots of credit and usually a big new contract. Lose and you take the heat and after enough losing you get fired.

If you don't like it, don't take the job. Go to some small college that goes to road games on an old bus and dresses in the weight room. Coach a bunch of players who are there on academic scholarships and have no dreams of major bowls and pro careers. If you take a job at a place like CU understand that expectations are high. Your fans deserve to see a quality coaching job, your players deserve a shot at knowing what it is like to play for a big bowl game, you need to be ready for the heat and the glory.

i think the fans have been amazingly resilient the last 2-3 years. kool-aid or not, win 2 games your first year and 3 a year ago....where is that tolerated? at a top 20 all-time program.

If they don't bounce back like mofos, UGA is about to fire it's 3rd straight coach with a +.500 W-L record. As posted above, Hawk has to win 15 straight to "get to" .500. and we are supposed to automatically renew this guy? the SEC is cutthroat bu UGA is not Kansas State....so there's not the "win at all costs" at UGA while Dan is charged with producing Zen Boulder Warriors with mighty (2.7) GPA's at CU.

as MTN Buff, I think Dan would be great in D-III at a liberal arts college. and don't get me wrong, I really like small liberal arts colleges.

Ya know, some of us have been saying exactly this for, oh, I don't know... ever since it became clear DH was gonna be with us for at least another year. Not harshin' on you, everyone has their own point of no return. It's just at this point it's hard to understand why - to use the analogy so often used to pummel DBT - some seem to get so much satisfaction from having their panties twisted in a bunch.
