Two Days From Now I'll Know Exactly Where I Stand, I Think

If the Buffs win, I'm back on board and very optimistic for the rest of the season. If the buffs lose, I'll be back to where I was following the Cal debacle. I've started to convince myself that the showing at Cal really was an anomaly and that the Buffs have turned the corner. But I need something to substantiate that. A close loss won't do it.

Yeah, I know the team hasn't won on the road in quite some time and all that. But if they do, I'm back to where I was at the start of LAST season - really hopeful.

I want that ****ing feeling again, Buffs!

Just win!

Regarding the title:

Based on how much you drink during games, I highly doubt you will.

Edit: And isn't a close loss actually a win? I'll take one of those.

Actually, I've been clean and sober for 10.5 hours so **** off.

If the Buffs hang on the road w/ Mizzou for 4 quarters, it is a win, even if they lose

Same boat, I hope this game will show me where this team is at/headed and what I think about it.

After watching that Cal POS showing, I now have zero faith when we go on the road. This is the chance to change that impression. The fact it's against Mizzou, a team that has OWNED us over Hawk's tenure, just makes things perfect for seeing where this team is at.

I'm in the same boat. This is a bellweather game for me. Win, and I'm totally on board. Lose, and it's simply more of the same line of jive from Hawkins that we've gotten for the last four+ years.

I was just checking out the line. It's 12.5.

Here was an interesting aside--especially where Mizzou is concerned:

Colorado:
  • COL are 8-3 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
  • COL are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 conference games.
Missouri:
  • MISOU are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 conference games.
  • MISOU are 3-11 ATS in their last 14 home games.

Hawkins' only chance is to win and get back into the recruiting hunt. I think the blessing/curse that all us long time Buff fans have is that we've been a national power. We remember the days when a win in most of these games was not even a question. We want to get back to that level, for sure. So the question is, even if Hawkins wins 8 or 9 is "can he take us back to where we should be?" When he came here most of us believed the sky was the limit for Hawk. Now that belief has been replaced by tons of doubt. Not even a win against Mizzou will wash that away. I need to see us begin to look dominant again. I need to see us look well coached. And I need to see the four and five star recruits to come calling again.

I'm sure I'll drop some jaws here, but I'm totally in agreement. A close loss won't help me here. Sure, it shows signs of improvement, but I have been strongly saying that this team has improved on paper for 2 years now and that we just need to win to shut everyone up. It's time for coaches to coach us to some wins.

Mizzou is a good team and we need a road win. I'm not looking for a close loss. We need to win and dominate them Physically.

I'm closer to dbt than sacky on this... Winning this game, even convincingly, means nothing without a lot of other things happening. I want hawk gone unless that happens...

Side note: which of you, if any, would have believed that sacky would be closer to saying hawk could stay than dbt at this point in the season? crazy world

A close loss doesn't do anything for me figuring out what I think about this team and where we're headed. UNLESS it's followed up by winning the next 3 against BU,TT, and OU. But, that's getting ahead of things..

Mizzou is where it's all at for Hawk.

My guess is those two conference wins against the spread at home are against Colorado.

Let's be clear: I don't give CU a snowballs chance in Hell of winning this game. They're flat out pathetic on the road, and against Missouri, they're also flat out pathetic at home. Hawkins hasn't the first clue how to defend the Missouri spread, and he's come out this week and said they really just need to execute better. :wtf: No, Hawk, you need to have a better plan. But all that aside, if they do manage to win this week, it will show that they've done something that they've never done under Hawk before. That would be reason enough for me to get on the bandwaggon again. A loss at home against Baylor or Tech would be a good reason to jump right off.

I will be on board with the belief that this team is in fact pretty darn good if we beat Mizzery. However, a win has no bearing on whether I want Hawk to stick around. I need to see much more for that.

I want to see a well disciplined, dominating team. I'd invested a lot in arguing for us to stand behind Hawkins for one more year. That is what I expected to see against csu, dominance, and didn't see. That performance really dashed my hopes a bit. Then Cal. Then the first half against Hawaii. We have played 6 quarters of pretty good football since. It'll take more than that to get me back believing again.

That's what I'm saying tough. In order to beat Mizzou, we'll need 4 more quarters of quality football. That'll mean that we've played 10 quarters of quality football and beaten two good teams. That's enough to get me believing again.

I actually think I'll be more impressed if we play like **** and win.

Meh, never did care too much for RTT, some decent scenes and good message, but largely a cornfest. It is better than Rudy however.

Moral victories are important in year five of a coach's tenure. Here's to getting one this weekend.

Totally corny but I was chanting the I want a victory when Georgia fumbled so I might have to keep doing it.
