I think so. He needs a signature win. This was his best chance. Man, the young men have to be devistated.

Truly? No.

If we win the next 2 at home (and odds are decent that we do), most of us will get suckered in on a 5-2 team going to Oklahoma with a chance at a breakthrough win.

Then, after having our hearts ripped out through our asses again, we may very well see the Buffs take out KU, KSU and ISU to bring us to 8-3. We'll then get suckered in again for the Nebraska game, think we've got a chance of pulling the upset and playing spoiler to their dream season... only to see us get bent over a fence and worked like a rented mule.

Finally, after hearing all kinds of insider info that Mike Bohn will be firing Hawkins, it will be decided that amidst the university budget cuts it would be fiscally irresponsible and politically suicidal to fire an 8-4 coach.

And then you woke up with a splitting headache because you ate the worm...

The only upside to a scenario like that is the case of beer I will win if it comes to pass. That's about it.

Just do not see it happening this way. Just do not. Hope I am wrong but there is not a thing about today's game that makes me think we can beat either of the teams I watched in that TT BU game today.

THis loss means nothing. The bar is set way too low for it to mean anything.

Dan was not expected to beat a top 25 team on the road and even though it was a shutout and they only scored 26 pts or whatever it was, it was a fairly competitive game when compared against Dan's history on the road. Believe it or not but he can come out and say that if it were not for 3-4 plays we may have won or at least had it close. The two blocked kicks could have been a huge swing, along with not being able to score when the drive started 13 yards away from 7 pts. Then there was the Cody pick that could have been a 14 pt swing.

At any rate, we got nothing out of this. We lost and this doesn't put us any closer to getting Dan the hell out of here. I really don't think this game weighs at all on Benson and Bohn's mind. I mean if the Toledo debacle, all of last season, and Cal didn't do it, this isn't even close to forcing their hand. No way he is fired for this game.

In the end, it is status quo at CU and for the alumni and fans: Frustrated!

Or even devastated. Ah well, so much for Jr High grads. And there are plenty of signature wins left. Baylor's still vying for cellar status, and Coach Hawk can help them down that road once again. A great win for CU, a great step for Baylor. We've got a lot of easy wins left this season under the Hawk plan.

I buy in after every big win, even though I don't like DH as a coach, but we get stomped on the road week in and week out. I just don't get it...

No you don't.

It's okay, you're amongst friends.

Capitalization intentional, I assume?

One blocked kick, the other just missed. Cody's performance was simultaneously unexpected and predicatable.

Unfortunately, there's a pretty good possibility that this is how it will play out. And if this were the case then no, I would not be happy with an 8-4 record. Priority #1 for this program right now needs to be a new head coach, not a couple more nondescript wins.

or the players are happy that they will get better coaching next year

I disagree. This coaching staff does not have the ability to win every game that they should.... just not possible... They have NEVER done it in the previous 5 years here and will not do it now. You have been duped to think that a good win will produce better results... that is not true. We can win a game here and there on talent and emotion.... but the other team has to help us win the game (ie fumble by Georgia). Not every team will hand us the game....

WE ARE NOT A GOOD TEAM.

This is not the last nail. The last nail was Cal. The Mizzou loss was just a shovel full of dirt. The problem is that Bohn needs to use a backhoe and finish the job now.

****ing spelling Nazi.

I love some of the optimism in this thread, but there is no ****ing way we finish 8-4. No ****ing way.

Watching Tech and Baylor yesterday, CU will lose to one, if not both of those teams.

You are basing this on watching a road performance. Colorado is a different animal at home, and this will be Baylor's first trip outside the state of Texas. For Tech it will be their 3rd, with a win over possibly the worst team in college football at New Mexico and getting 50 hung on them by an ISU team that proceeded to get nearly 70 hung on them at home the following week by Utah. Colorado is very capable of winning the next two games.

It just sickens me that Hawkins teams are so bi-polar.

Without a win on the road Hawkins is gone for sure. I do not believe this is an 8-4 team anyway, they are just too inconsistent, too mistake prone and just TOO POORLY COACHED. If you cannot get plays in in time, if you cannot teach kids how to line up or the snap count, you do not need to be coaching.

If changing QBs is a valid strategy for trying to get a spark how is changing coaches an obvious option to get a bigger spark
