Heres my ranking for each BCS conference after 6 weeks of action. Not including the Big east because I think it's a joke of a BCS conference. I think the MWC is better than the Big east right now.

Not trying to start a major flame war and this is a serious question. What is the difference between the mid-late 90's NU teams and this one? They were just as one dimensional if not more than this year's version and they each had nasty defenses. This year's team hasn't had to throw the ball at all. Against Washington they had two huge pass plays in the 1st qtr. (one TD, one set up a TD). After that, they realized they could steamroll them on the ground and that's what they did. KSt didn't stand a chance of stopping the run so there was little reason to pass. Martinez is 3rd in the conference in passing efficiency. I realize that he isn't going to be Sam Bradford, but the kid can throw. I guess we'll see how he does against a great UT secondary.
 
BTW I think it's funny how I keep hearing the the Big XII is having a "down" year yet we are one of 2 conferences (Big 10) that have only one team with a losing record.
 
True, but Iowa State is about to go under -- too bad because this team is probably better than last years, but the schedule is rough with both UT and OU from the South. Baylor probably won't finish .500 unless they can win in Boulder Saturday. CU folds like a cheap tent on the road, five games in my preseason pick of 6-6 is the most likely scenario for the Buffs imo.
 
I'd have to agree at this point we seem to be one dimensional, but when the defense just can't stop the run, even though they know it's coming, who cares? Good job leash, I'll be a big Wisconsin fan this weekend.

I hear what your saying about the NU teams in the 90's but I think defense and defensive schemes have come a long way since then. Your seeing more 3-4 style defenses with really fast and athletic LBs, CBs, and safeties that can cheat to stop the run or help narrow the field to slow down passing. Didn't really have this variety or athleticism in the 90s, or at least it wasn't overly apparent. There are more packages that can be employed based on the play calling of the offense. Option type ball isn't what it used to be for this very reason. NU has yet to face a defense with any kind of talent to stop what they know is coming. Don't think Texas is anything special, but more talented and better coached then any D they have seen thus far. You will see this weekend. If not, I'll be eating my words and counting on you to poke the stick in my eye :)
 
I'd put Iowa State lower and Nebraska at #2 in Big 12 at the moment. Nebraska has yet to really play anyone good yet - I think Colorado has played three teams better than K-State so far, who is Nebraska's toughest opponent to date by far.
 
LSU and Auburn are both undefeated, but I would still put Bama ahead of both of them. Maybe Arkansas too. Lots still to be worked out in that division. I will be shocked if any other team but Bama represents the West in Atlanta.
 
I wouldn't put Mizzery that high. They still haven't played anyone yet. I don't think they are very good, we just made them look good.

I am really impressed by Martinez, and sorry any team that can blowout an average team on the road is a pretty good sign in my book. They do have some big tests ahead, btu I think they are for real. OU is too inconsistent for me to put #1 right now.

Maybe ahead of Auburn, but LSU beat Florida on the road, granted Florida is "down" ands LSU kind of lucked out with the win. But The swamp is a dman hard place to play anytime. I do think Bama is better than both Auburn and LSU, but right now, I would put LSU ahead.

I agree Mizzou isn't that good, but I don't see anybody else that really deserves to be ahead of them right now.
 
I'd put Mizzou ahead of Ok State. Georgia is much better than Ole Miss... the Dawgs will jump up and snakebite at least a few top SEC teams this year.

I guess you are right since they are 5-0.

I completely agree with you on NU. That Martinez is pretty darn impressive. I hate to write it, but that team may go far.
