Neil Woelk

All hail to Woelk! Woe on those who dare root against CU in hopes of getting the coach fired!

On a serious note, Woelk is correct about how CU might be on the same trajectory that Arizona was and is on so CU fans need to be patient and be supportive of the players (they NEED it instead of jackoffs rooting against them so they can get a different coach).

Keep living the dream buddy, Hawk is ****ty as **** and Stoops would clinic Hawk in a coaches meeting.

It is CU's fault that fans have so little confidence in the powers that be. Why should a CU fan believe that mediocrity isn't going to be accepted? What evidence do we have that anything short of a complete meltdown is going to cause a CU coach to be fired? Sorry, but I completely understand why diehard Buff fans are rooting against the team. Unlike most, they'll still live and die with this program 10 years from now and they're willing to blow this thing up now for the sake of the future. I may not agree with them, but I am not going to call them out either.

I have no problem rooting for the team. I have complete faith in Hawkins being capable of ****ing everything up perfectly, and doing the job of losing his job on his own.

Yea, those 2 wins against Hawaii and UGA are real quality wins. In the very next sentence he all but directly contradicts himself by saying "Hawaii hasn't lost since its visit to Colorado, beating Charleston Southern, Louisiana Tech and Fresno State." We're supposed to be impressed by that?

I know Woelk may be a mouthpiece for CU, but why can't he just write that Hawkins needs to go now? These next two games should have no bearing on DII's future. He should have no future at CU. Are there really tons of reporters up there that CU can go to if they shut out Woelk. No way. The Camera is the source for CU athletic information. CU is not cutting off the camera for speaking the truth. Grow some balls Woelk.

Used to be the Gary Pinkel "have patience...after clouds, sunshine" drivel from Woelk and others, now it's Mike Stoops? Oh brother. For crying out loud, make it stop.

Who's next, if KU would have stuck with Terry Allen like CU fans need to with Hawk....?

I posted a new thread on the Arizona Scout board and will be curious to see how they respond. Take a look...

I think Hawk's record is 18-36, but whatever. Good to get the dialogue going with the AZ fans. iirc, they were frustrated that Stoops wasn't able to get the offense going. In their case, though, he fired people and then went out and found himself a hot Offensive Coordinator to change things up. He was a bit on the hot seat, though.

Take heart in the fact that we still have the same President, Chancellor, and AD (who still has not had his contract extended) to lead us out of this mess. The same team passed on firing our coach last time by the way. As well, we face the same fiscal crisis at the state level which is actually probably worse this year because last year they had porkulus money to shore up the state that they do not have this year.

I will not root against the Buffs. But I do hope that our coach's tenure here will be measured against the same standards in which Barnett's tenure was. Though I doubt it will as I believe CU was more looking for a reason to unload GB than it was serious about returning us to our winning ways.

I can barely stand to read Kneel's columns anymore. There was a time when he was pretty good - took some decent shots at the CU AD, was reasonably objective in his criticisms, etc.

But if he isn't on the CU AD payroll now, I don't know who is. I have never seen a columnist so willing to lie down for his athletic director / football coach.

You are either a 'plant' from the CU AD's office or Misti.
What say you ?

I'm not sure why so many have a problem with Neil, I think he's just pretty laid back as opposed to the majority of journalists who feel like they have to be sensationalist and edgy with everything they write. Neil doesn't want to be Paige or Kisla, and I find that refreshing. He comes more from the perspective of the longtime fan who has seen it all and holds optimism because he knows it'll turn around in time. I'd totally have a beer with Neil.

This quote is taken straight from the AZ Scout board:
"Ask yourself if the CU program is better now than when Hawkins came on board. How bare was the cupboard? Are players improving? Is there improvement, not necessarily in the won/loss department?

When Stoops arrived there were a handful of decent players. Then, it took a few years for player to beging buying into the system (discipline, off-season training, etc...)

Despite being consistently outmanned, Stoops managed to get his players to compete. Even against USC, Stoops managed to keep games competitive even though only one Arizona player could start at USC.

We're still not there and Stoops may not get us from "good" to "great." But there's been progress and that's why he's kept his job."

And right there are the reasons why Hawk needs to go NOW!

The overall problem with this column is the fact that there is so much detail missing. It is key to know that Stoops did make changes in an attempt to improve, and it appears the kids are being coached up. We don't have any proactive changes in the assistant ranks (Riddle is still the biggest joke I have ever seen) and it is very clear that the coaches don't know how to coach up the kids/coach to their strengths (there are a few exceptions on the staff, of course). I don't see how they can really be compared - and I am not a big fan of Stoops either.

In the end, even if we do win 7 games, it will be more due to the suckitude of the Big XII competition than due to a great job of preparing/coaching the players. That is why I don't want any consideration whatsoever for keeping this coach any further. At his best I am convinced that he would only be able to deliver mediocrity and you can't count on a majority of the teams you play each year to be in a re-building/growth period in order to get to 6 or 7 wins.

All I want to hear is that there will be no way, no how that this coach will receive consideration to be in place post November (and would accept it sooner). I will root for the kids as hard as ever, but don't want to even be faced with celebrating a win and having to contemplate what it means for the head man afterwards.

I stopped reading Neil a while ago...it's so frickin' obvious he is Bohn's lapdog. He is a sell out.
