Run Defense

DeNiro

My Dixie Wrecked
Horrible this year!

Gashed by Baylor... Their starting RB had a 10.1 ypc :wow:
Griffen also over 100 yards and a 9.1 ypc :wow:

Mizzou back up QB gashes us...

Georgia averages 5.9 ypc

Cal 4.4 ypc

Hawaii and CSU both abandoned the run game...

Teams are smashing our defense in the mouth and the are getting tired and quitting late in some games... Today against Baylor was an example

You mean playing undersized DTs is not a recipe for success?

they seem to be the ones who make the plays, straight runs up the middle are usually met with little success... The team is just out of place and arm tackling and letting small runs get broken for larger ones...

maybe we should convert more of our defensive ends into defensive tackles. and then convert more linebackers into defensive ends. and safeties into linebackers.

it's a recipe for success!

i wish i was kidding, but this is seriously how hawkins thinks, look at our roster

If done right you can make your defense faster, but it has to be the right kids who can transition to those positions.

There were several runs right up the gut tonight that went for big gains. I'm too lazy to look it up, but I bet our starting DTs are the lightest in the conference or close to it. We need to beef up on the front seven big time.

A lot of the success Baylor had in the run game was on the zone read play. Much like a lot of their success in the passing game was on the bubble screen play. Sure, Baylor racked about 550 yards of offense and never punted. But if you focus on these things you just show your ignorance. If you'd ever coached, you'd realize all the things Baylor likes to do that we took away with our brilliant scheme. Out of the entire Baylor playbook, there were really just 2 plays that consistently worked for them. This is the greatness of Ron Collins.

Sure, Nebraska got exposed for the fraud they are today. However, they can run the spread option **** and that is going to KILL us. ****.

According to our esteemed coach, it wasn't a zone read ;)

How have the LB's looked this year? I know Major has impressed, but I don't really watch the games that closely to dissect linebacker play.

Did someone say we need bigger DT'S? Nah, it worked for hypolite his junior year. Moving kasa inside was brilliant.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Offense we just saw, the same as WVU ran when they played against CU in Boulder? RG3 is good, but he's no Pat White. Way to go Ronnie.

Baylor's RB has been long-overlooked by their idiot of an OC. But for one game, he's recognized. And Baylor knows what "Quit" looks like - intimately. When teams decide they want to quit and lose to Baylor, Baylor knows what it looks like. They are extremely happy that Coach Hawk knows how to prepare his team for Quit. The Pac-10 loves it, too.

What defense??

If Griffin wanted to run, he ran. Like I've harped on before QB's with wheels have burned the Buffs many a time during Hawks "reign of futility"

If Griffin wanted to pass, he passed. He hit 80+ percent of his passes. Making an average passer look like a Heisman candidate is also a trademark of Hawks "reign of futility"

This was inevitable. Our small defensive linemen just wear down as the season goes along
