Hawkins attitude has infected the entire roster. These players, as a whole - I know there are exceptions - don't hate losing.
Every loss the remarks are the same. "XYZ team is really good." Remember when we damn near lost to Eastern Washington and Hawkins had the nerve to come out and say "they are a really good football team" and got pissed when a reporter contradicted him? We hear it every week. "Baylor is really good."
Stewart's interview after the game today was a perfect example. "You win some you lose some." "We have played some tough games at home here." (paraphrasing here).
These guys have a loser mentality and they make excuses for losing. People who are preoccupied with making excuses for their failures will NEVER succeed.
I don't think guys should be jumping off of a bridge after a loss. Football truly IS just a game. But at this level, if you really don't care about losing to a crappy team enough to be even remotely pissed off immediately after the game, then I don't think you should putting on a CU uniform.
I try not to pay much attention to the Twitter feed on the front page but I think it is pretty damn telling that the players who have been here for a long time are constantly making "the sun will rise tomorrow" comments while the newer guys seem pissed when they lose.
Someone needs to be throwing helmets and breaking **** in the locker room. Players need to be getting on eachother when they make mental mistakes. We have appear to have virtually no leadership, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. Hawkins has seemingly brainwashed all emotion, passion, energy out of the players in favor of this new-age pseudo-pop-psychology garbage that he espouses at every turn.
Fair or not fair, this group of players will be remembered, as a whole, as a bunch of guys with no fire, not much heart, and no will to win. Hawkin's attitude has had an insidious effect on the entire program.
THe only time CU can be counted on somewhat reliably to win is when they drastically outclass - and I do mean DRASTICALLY - a minor conference team at home only. Even then, they have a bit of penchant for losing - see CSU last year and several other examples. They can be expected to lose literally every road game without fail regardless of who they are playing. This is the sign of a mentally weak, poorly prepared team. The rules of football and the game itself is exactly the same whether you are playing at home or on the road. I understand there can be expected to be a slight difference in results at home/on the road due to natural human reasons, but not to the degree we have observed.
