Oregon is #1

I thought NU could be a teener, but never a top 10er. They appear to have selected the wrong QB at the beginning of the year. Martinez looked great against teams with no D whatsoever. But Lee gives them some balance. Texas kicked their butts at home, though, so it doesn't look good for them. What a damn shame!

Nebraska will still win the north.

Glad you have confidence in us, we have to beat two ranked teams in the next two weeks with one of those being on the road. We haven't won in Stillwater since 1995, granted we only play there every 4 years so take that stat for what it's worth. I don't know what's worse, playing at home or playing away. We play better away so far this season, but beating any ranked team has been a problem. Old bubble screen Watson can't adjust his offense to better defenses and that's been proven over the past few years. I had 2 losses this year, Texas and OSU. If we lose to OSU, fine not gonna cause a problem for the North title, lose to Missery and I'm pissed.

No they wont. They are actually a pretty easy team to defend if you have a good defense. And Texas' D isn't even what I would call great. NU is too 1 demensional, teams will learn a lot from the Texas tapes on how to stop NU now. Not saying they will be sudden losers in every game, but they still have a couple losses left on their schedule and they will not be making a trip to the big 12 title game. They will close out their Big 12 era going their last 11 years without a conference title. Think about that huskers! 11 years!!!

Welcome to our former world. Honestly though, at this point, I'd love to be bitching about Watson and his playcalling right now vice what we're dealing with in the Zenmaster.

Whoever the 15 idots are that voted for Boise-hoax #1, they should have their AP voting privileges revoked.

EDIT: And the 3 who voted TCU #1.

You think the Coaches care about the number of copies USA Today sells?

from what was on tv, the bcs formula is a mixture of the AP poll, the harris poll, and a number of computer rankings.

however, i can imagine that espn could get it wrong. ???

in that case, any voter who placed osu over wisky is a moron. just trying to come up with something tangible to explain it.

My comment was simply in regard to you statement that the votes of the voters, the college coaches in this case, are seriously influenced by dollars driving subscriptions. I doubt the College coaches care about the subscription numbers of USA Today.

The AP poll is no longer part of the BCS formula.

Which is BS. A fair amount of knuckleheads is working for the media, but most media employees getting paid to cover CFB will have a far better overview over CFB in general than the coaches. You think an ACC coach has the time to watch and care about a game between 2 Pac 10 teams? He may look at the box score or see some brief highlights on ESPN, but I think those guys care far more about their team and the teams on their schedule. I have read some stories where some coaches openly admitted they let their interns, equipment guys or sons fill out their ballot.

i'm sorry - if it was not clear that i was under the belief that it was the ap poll that contributed to the formula, allow me to illuminate that now. did you need me to explain how i got from ap to subscriptions?

debatable. many media employees cover just their region, and are subject to the same tunnel vision. the only thing they might not have happen is having their kid fill it out.

 how do ya like that? seem to recall telling you that he was no prize catch.

I haven't been a fan of his for the past 3 years now, he was a holdover from the Callahan days and needs to go. I can't believe I just Callahan..............looks like the psychiatrist is gonna have to forget about mom for awhile.........I just opened that Callahan wound again. lol

Completely agree.

What's Boise's record against bcs conference teams in the past four years? 9-0?

It doesn't matter what they did in previous years. The current poll is about this year. To beat a dead horse, playing teams like SJSU, Toledo, NMSU, and La Tech week-in and week-out doesn't cut it.

This year's record is 2-0, if that's how you want to keep score. When they played at VaTech, VaTech was ranked 7th. They they won at Oregon St, who is currently top 20. If BCS teams are tired of hearing about them, beat them for once. It hasn't happened in years.

And VT lost to an FCS team, so that win pretty much means diddly squat. Oregon State isn't even ranked right now. But maybe that win over mighty San Jose State win will earn them some brownie points.

They beat two teams that were ranked when they played them on the road this season. I doubt that can be said of any of the 'big boys' who all play the little sister of the poor for the first three or four weeks of the season. Please name one bcs team that has beaten two ranked teams on the road this year. The 'Big Boys' don't play ranked teams on the road, ever. Boise beats whoever is in front of them, every single week. They'll never get a home game from the cowards who schedule for, say, an Oklahoma, who is busy squeeking past Utah St and Air Force. Boise beats every bcs team they play, consistantly. Even though none of the cowards will ever schedule them in Boise.

Choklahoma will play the first good team they've played this coming weekend, and Missouri will pound them.

:yeahthat:

They did beat VTech at VTech which isn't easy. They did beat an Oregon St. squad at home (Oregon St.'s QB was also playing his second collegiate game, both of his first two games were on the road).

If Boise State was playing in the Pac they would be a middle of the road team right now. With this year's squad. They can definitely beat anyone in any given week. Many teams can. When you face an easy schedule that keeps your guys healthy, you should expect to be clicking on all cylinders at the end of the year.

When you slug it out in a major conference it is much, much more difficult to go undefeated. When all is said and done, this counts. A one loss team from the Pac or Big X or Big XII or SEC should go the the title game over an undefeated BSU team. It may be unfortunate, but their schedule is very, very weak...
