I didn't see anything in there on what the figures actually were, unfortunately.

I'd like to know exactly what Colorado is going to be getting in their new conference with their new television deal.

Threshold looks to be $170 million (around 14 mil each if you divide by 12) before UCLA and USC are taken of the subsidy program. I think Scott could get that in the contract negotiations so they might only get the extra 2 million for 2011 and then everything is split down the middle. Also hope they keep the NFL option for the first 3 years even with the scheduling issues. Would be something totally new in college football.

Reported by Denver Post and Daily Camera as well. This is looking freaking sweet!

Well, they haven't negotiated the new TV deal yet, so that's tbd. But according to the DP the payout will be between 10 and 14 mil per team.

The Pac-12 will begin negotiations shortly on new TV contracts, and expectations are they will amount to between $10.8 million to $14.1 million per school per year. The league's current combined annual football and basketball TV revenues total only about $53 million.

Another thing to come out of the DP article is that the championship game will be played at home stadium of the higher seeded division champion.

larry scott is awesome. way better than the big 12's moronic president. anybody know how much money cu gets from our current tv contract?

I'd be disappointed with an annual $10MM payout. I'd think that a conference like the Pac 12 could generate a lot more money for it's members than that. Figure the Big 10 member schools get more than twice that figure. I'm hoping that the number settles somewhere in the $17MM-$20MM range when it's all said and done. $10MM/Year isn't much more than what we were getting with the Big 12.

I think CU received almost $10 mil from the Big 12 last year. I will be very disappointed if the remaining Big 12 schools (Oklahoma State, Tech, Mizzou particularly) get more money from their new television gig than the new Pac 10 contract provides.

Won't part of the additional money come from a PAC 12 network? Didn't it take the Big 10 network a few years to actually generate good money from the network?

I hear you. My expectation is about $14M. That's the latest ACC benchmark. I just don't see getting north of $17 with out picking up some major central time zone markets.

Does the Big10 money include a Big10 network? I think the lower PAC12 figures don't, yet.

When do the Census results come out? I think they'd be wise to wait on those because I bet the Denver/CSprings, Phoenix, and SLC markets will look even more attractive after the numbers are in.

Census results come out next March/April.

How can Mike Bohn and DiStephano not be distracted with all of the conference realignment discussions? It's hard to focus on a coach search and figure out the financial foundation of the move.

I think CU's priorities are right; focus on conference matters first and then give coaching a 100% effort. It would be nice if CU could walk hawk and chew Pac 12 gum at the same time, but if that isn't how it works, I understand those priorities.

But please don't wait until census numbers come out to make a coaching change!

I think a big reason for that was the fact that they were the first to do it. I think that a PAC 12 network would have some precedent to go on and probably become profitable a little quicker.

Yes. But it also helps that there a number of passionate fanbases in the upper midwest, plus many of those fans have relocated to other parts of the country and still follow their team passionately. ABC will often put a Big 10 game in parts of Florida over a game from another conference.

One of the biggest things that Pac-12 needs to do if they want to land a hefty TV contract is do away these ridiculous late-night kickoffs.
