Fairbanks v Hawkins.

Fairbanks sucked but not one of his teams finished in sole possession of last place. In fact CU has never finished in sole possession of last.

Hawkins is a horrible mistake of a coach at CU. He'll maybe do better at his next non big league job.

Was thinking about that today, Fairbanks simply did not care, that was pretty obvious as his tenure wore on. He did not speak in moronic non-sequiturs, what you saw is what you got. However, he did deliver 82 - 42 and left CU at its lowest ebb.

Hopefully we have another Mac type hire at the end of the Hawkins era and complete the circle.

They are on par, thats for sure. They will be 1&2 as the worst CU coaches in history. But Hawk cares. Fairbanks did not.

i actually think that proves that hawkins is worse. fairbanks was old, drunk, tired, and apathetic when he was here. he wasn't even trying. hawkins is actually trying to win and not managing it.

Yeah. Which makes it hard to be mad at Hawkins. It's kind of like laughing at a blind retard with a gimpy leg trying to compete in the Olympic decathlon.

Well,, I'm sure not going to try to argue with ya!

Well, he looks like this is really effecting him, to me. He just seems like this entire ordeal has cut him pretty deeply.
I think he's just sensitive to criticism, and I do believe that he wanted things to work out in Boulder (Fairbanks was not as personally invested).

I believe that Hawk is resigned to being fired and doesn't care anymore.

:rofl2: Now, that is very PC of ya, nik!

Well, whatever. This will be over in a few weeks and then we can get excited for the future.

I was too young for Fairbanks, but this is the worst football I have ever seen. Hawkins has burned this places to the ground.

it was actually worse football then, but like i said, fairbanks wasn't even trying. and, no one ever felt like we had any prayer of success, so it didn't hurt so badly. you had no hopes so they weren't dashed weekly.

hawkins is incompetent, which causes me to rank him ahead of lazy fairbanks on the worst coaches of all time list at CU.

I sometimes feel Hawkins isn't trying

So, being a lazy, uncaring drunk is not one of your evaluation factors? :smile2:

Fairbanks thought he got a raw deal with the Patriots and took his subsequent resentment out on us by his apathy.

i think Hawk cares, i just think a set of circumstances pushed him above his station as a coach. and, instead of hiring experienced assistants at this level....he went with what he knew....small time guys or guys with very little experience who would be learning on the job. for the latter, hence the "making it up as we go along" feel to the entire era.

Big league job? Hawkins is going to be getting back to his roots, and will be coaching fullbacks at Davis next year. They have lots of lunch pails in the Big West. Riddle will continue working wonders somewhere with his special team acumen, wouldn't be surprised if he brought Goodman along, wherever he goes.

Hawkins cares to a point, but what kills me is how eager he is to make his kid a star...we are a running team, but all those passes with Cody playing was just plain stupid...never recruited a kicker, never hired good assistant coaches...it is really obvious now that the assistants at Boise State made Hawkins what he was when CU hired him rather the other way around.

Fairbanks and action, those words do not go together. I was a student during that horrific 1 - 10 season, not fun.

Me, three. 82-42 was awful, but the game did have its moments (Hell, we scored 42 points!). Losing to Drake that season, at home, though, was on par with the Montana State loss ....
