(trying to find something here)

Our strength of schedule is looking pretty good right now:

  • Baylor is 6-2 and will probably be ranked next week. They put up 683 yards today against K State
  • Hawai'i is 6-2, and has beaten Nevada (who I think will beat Boise)
  • Cal is looking unstoppable at home, our loss there is on par with all of their home games to date
  • Mizzou is undefeated and currently beating #1 Oklahoma
  • Georgia has killed everyone since losing to us

My 1st and 2nd grader flag football team that I coach won our first game today! Buccaneers 26, Bengals 12! Does that help? :smile2:

This should not console you. It should just piss you off more. Colorado could be (should be) 5-2 right now.

This. Football SOS only really matters for the elite teams, like OU, and their jockeying for BCS positions. Or at minimum, it only helps you if you are good/winning. If you are bad, a tough SOS will bury you before October.

Basketball SOS, on the other hand, means a great deal in terms of NCAAT resumes.

Why does our SOS matter when we can't win a game?

NAVY: did you go for 2???

Fortunately, no kicking games in flag so I can use that as an excuse. Went 1 for 4 in 2 pt. attempts. Problem is in our league if we choose to go for one, we can only pass the ball.

We at least have a power running game, so we feel better about making it in from 12 yards out than having to play pitch and catch from the five. I have a lot of kids whose first time playing is this season.

Is your league coming down with suspensions yet for "aggressive flag pulling"?

No, but both my teams yesterday got called for "charging on the offense," basically lowering your shoulder and running through a guy. Parents went ape-s**t over those calls.

What exactly does "power running game" mean when all you have to do is pull a flag? I'd think speed (and shifty hips) would be more important.

If you have seen two of the kids on my team (mine being one ) you'd understand "power."

Overall you're right, and most of my little guys are like that but when my two tanks get the ball one of two things happen:
1) The defense gets scared and gets out of their way
or
2) Even though the boys are straight-line running (no shiftiness in them) if a kid does go for the flag, they generally "bounce" right off them.
