Woody Paige chimes in on Hawkins / Bohn

So we know it was NOT woody who wrote Riddle the e-mail....

Gawd, can't we put the Dave Logan crap to rest? I swear he will be two years in his grave someday and somebody will ask for him to be named as the new Colorado head coach.

Hawkins resign? That's funny! He will hide behind his excuses and still believe he is doing things the "right way" and collect every last paycheck he can from this University. He does this because he knows the AD and Administration will allow it. Hawkins is a G**D*** magician, he can blame others for burning the program to the ground yet he is the only one holding the gas can and matches.

At least this time, Logan was discussed as not having enough experience to jump right into the HC position at CU. If he comes to CU as an assistant coach, I'm fine with that. if he jumps right into the HC position, I won't be happy.

If Logan comes in as HC everyone will be pissed. People will want Bohn's head.

:yeahthat:

Les Miles did come to my mind recently...if he is available, CU needs to go after him and Big Mac can consult Les Miles. Does that mean Big Mac's grandson T.C. could follow?

That would be an interesting move. Miles as HC and McCartney as AHC/diplomat/ambassador. Miles will be run out on a rail due to insane LSU fans so why not? He will bring back tough-nosed, run-based teams.

He was responsible for getting Okie State football going before Gundy.

Woody's column must have been conceived in a tavern.

It probably made perfect sense to the Denver media types who want one of their own in a position of power up in Boulder.

I have to believe that half of our fan base is completely ignorant to what works in major college football. All this Logan crap talk and bringing back all our old coaches and players is so freggin dumb. With the exception of McCartney, who is a coaching god, but has been out of the game for far too long, why would we choose any of the former players/coaches or a high school coach like Logan?? If they are all so freggin good to take us to the promise land, how come they can't get any of the numerous jobs in D1 or D1AA that pop up each year...they are never even sniffed for a job. We need someone who is coaching today in a program that is successful. That way they know what a great program should look like, how it recruits, how it works. There is no quick fix with McCartney.....and we are only going to suffer with some legacy or high school coach.

God, get it over McCartney already. He can't save sCUm football it's too late.

I would love Miles, but I think he'll have some better offers than CU if LSU really does let him go. Are the cajuns really crazy enough to fire a guy who has averaged 10 wins a season since he got there?

I have never seen worse clock management than LSU under Les Miles. Guy would not do too well at CU.

keep losing your big games cornhole. congrats on beating your first ranked opportune in like 30 years and half your wins coming from places like south dakota and idaho.

How do I respond to a fluffalo fan who's team is going on their 6th losing season in a row, has seen their last win of the season by October and has lost to the likes of CSU, Toledo and Montana State? I guess you don't cause sCUm program speaks for itself.

Yup. A program with, at the time, worse facilities, worse donations and worse support than CU has right now. He knows the CU deal and is a McCartney guy -- or at least coached here. I realize the man has issues, but he would absolutely be the best name we could bring in, IMO. He might be crazy, but he is tough, dedicated and I think he would be a big hit here because he would bring back the kind of football we love.

The best thing about Miles, from his time at OSU, is that he is fearless. He pissed off the Sooner nation because he basically started verbally assaulting OU from the start -- he got in their heads and they still hate him to this day. He would get players to run through walls. I just think it'd be a good fit. And I'm sure Mac would sign off on it.

And yes, I think LSU will fire him after this season. Those people are insane down on the bayou.

Have fun being Ohio State's bitch. You are the reason classy husker fans is a complete fraud. Go fall off silo.

You are 100% correct about the clock management. He would do well at CU - we would have winning seasons, but he's not a championship coach. His best years at LSU were with Saban's players and Pelini as DC. He's a good coach - problem at LSU is good is not good enough. He could win 7 - 8 games a year at CU. Mac is his best friend, and he has been grooming T.C. as a coach. If you watch LSU games,T.C. always has a set of earphones on - every game. He did last year also.

Is clock management really that hard? Couldn't they just hire some assistant to stand next to him and help him with that?

Les Miles has been able to win in the SEC while Hawkins hasn't been able to win in the Big 12. The SEC is normally stronger than the Big 12. Getting Les Miles would still be an upgrade given the clock management issues. If he can recruit SEC athletes to CU, we will destroy the Pac-12.

6th losing season? might be time for another 7 years of lower education.

Dude won 51 games in his first 5 years at LSU and is 7-1 right now. I don't care whose players he had, I would take him in a heartbeat. No reservations whatsoever.

I would take Les Miles in a heartbeat. Problem is I don't think he would take us. Bigger programs will be after him.

Well he wouldn't. So your hypothetical is a non-starter.

The guy wins mainly because he has incredible talent to overcome odd coaching decisions and even risky coaching decisions. He would look like a very different coach in Boulder because he would not have near that same talent level.
