My Aunt and Uncle are big time Michigan boosters and they said what they are hearing is The Mich AD is no longer interested in Miles because Les Miles is interested in another job...The Colorado Job and Miles has reached out to Mike Bohn via back channels

I'm not sure, but one thing I like about him...

During the 2007 season, Miles received the nickname "The Mad Hatter," in reference to his risky play calling, outspoken nature and defiant attitude. The nickname is also a reference to his trademark white team baseball cap, which he has worn all through his coaching career. In response to his playcalling, Miles stated that "if you have playmakers, you're obligated to turn them loose."

A coach in a good secure job in SEC country would leave it to come to CU. I love it! Furthermore, he comes from a pretty nice coaching tree.

I don't buy it either, but I would hardly call Miles' job "secure". He probably survives this season, but he will be under intense pressure next year to deliver at least a SEC West division title.

miles wants out... he is tired of the constant scrutiny and blatant harassment... i was told hes getting harassing phone calls at home and has had to change his home phone number 5 times in the last 8 months

Miles is being paid $3.75 mil per year at LSU. He is currently under contract through 2014.

He isn't going to be fired - unless LSU has some serious cash to pay!

LSU has serious cash... but i think les miles would be resigning in this scenerio not RE-SIGNING DPLY

So he's going to just walk away from a contract that pays him nearly $4 million a year? Riiight.

And Les didn't expect constant scrutiny and pressure at a premier job in the SEC?

He's 8-1 having only lost to undefeated Auburn. He beat 4 of 5 ranked teams. And, omg, he actually won a road game! OMG!!! That must feel awesome.

LSU would be stupid to fire him and they have to look no further than UT to plant the seeds of doubt about changing coaches. I agree that any coaches job is always tenuous at best. Stranger things have happened. Their loss would be our gain.

I can't afford to get my hopes up. Miles would be a fantastic hire, but as has been pointed out, there are a lot of reasons why this probably wouldn't happen.

Gotta love Les Miles' contract at LSU....

"A. Winning eight or more games in a season presumptively will be the basis for a one-year term extension."

LSU is 7-1 right now, with Louisiana Monroe coming to Baton Rouge in a couple weeks.

And this.....

"Upon termination of COACH'S employment without cause during the term or extended term of this Agreement, the amount of liquidated damages due COACH shall not exceed Eighteen Millions Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($18,750,000.00)

I'd take Les and all his wierd clock management issues - Les with EB as OC would be awesome. We'd kill it on the recruiting trail

Count me in as one that would love Miles coming here. Also count me as one who is extremely skeptical it would actually happen.

Would he be a good fit for CU?
Given his recent SEC experience, this is a good question.

However, if the stars were to all align and he came to Boulder - yeah, he'd probably be a good fit. He was an assistant at CU under Mac, so he knows the situations and circumstances unique to coaching in Boulder. He has stated publicly that Boulder was his favorite place to live. And, given that he would be financially secure beforehand, the CU job could be one that he could have until he wanted to retire, without much of the pressure to produce like he has in Baton Rouge. He is an excellent recruiter, would probably have Mac's support (and by extension, the support of all of the fans who respect him), and would be able to bring in a competent staff of assistants. The $64MM question remains: would he take a big pay cut to come back to Boulder? It will be interesting to find out the answer.

I'm not doubting your source but I think Michigan doesn't want Miles anymore because they now want Harbaugh.

ok more info... BB to answer your question... he wouldnt walk away from the contract LSU would buy him out at a Reduced rate he would get a year and a half's worth of future salary and cu would pay him in the range of 2.5-3 mil a year... as for ITB... mich would be ecstatic for both of them and they were going to make a pitch to both... but harbaugh is their first choice

I can't see us willing to pay that much.

There's plenty of pressure to produce here.

Good info.

i sure as **** wish it was a done deal...i dunno if its happening or not... but that article from lsu sportnation thing gave a lot of the reasons why he might do it

i wanna clarify... the talks are going on... i don't know if it will happen

I gotta jump in here. I go to LSU games regularly, my in-laws live in Baton Rouge, I follow LSU pretty closely. Les Miles is not a smart man. I don't want him anywhere near CU. I see a lot of similarities between him and Hawkins actually. They're pretty good motivators with their coach speak at times, but when it comes to the details of how their programs are running, they have no idea what's going wrong and/or how to fix things.

Now everyone points to the his record and the NC, which is fine. The guy was given the keys to Rolls Royce of a program and he's managed to not screw it up too bad. IMO, you can't transfer what he's doing at LSU to what he would/could do at CU. The situations are night and day. They're facilities are top notch at LSU. And since day one he's been recruiting in a talent rich state with one BCS school that had recently won an NC.

He's never built a program, and he's never been at a disadvantage at LSU. You've mentioned his clock management issues--well, that's really all he has to do during a game, and he can't handle it. His coordinators get paid $500,000+ to take care of the rest.

Les Miles at CU will be much like he was at Okie State, when he was a 5-7 to 7-5 coach who wins a big game now and then. And if you think Hawkins PC quotes are ridiculous, wait till you have to listen to Les Nile explain why he has 3 5 star receivers on his roster, yet has one of the worst offenses in the country.

It should tell you something if he wants out at LSU. I'll admit their fans are crazy, but watching that team play the last 4 years, I can see why they are. He wants to come back to place where making a bowl is good enough.
