Kansas roll call

Non-refundable airfare is a bitch...

Ouch, I admire the sticktoitiveness, though. I just have a hard time justifying the expense given the utter ineptitude, even though I think this is the roadie CU breaks the losing streak with.

I can't go because even as sucky as our own head coach is, if we manage to lose to Turner Gill and I see it in person with my own two eyes, I may never recover...

I posted this on the prediction thread, but there is a ready-made tailgate if you are interested:
If anyone is going, check out the Kansas City alumni web page, as they are hosting a hospitality tent pregame. You get directions when you RSVP so they get an idea of how many folks to expect, but it's lunch for a $10 donation, not bad.

It says $20 on the link, but I think it's a $10 donation. I could be wrong.

I had been planning on going to this one since the end of last season, but there's no way I'm going now. I've done my part this year on the road -- one of 10k Buffs who witnessed the Berkeley Beatdown.

I am so excited to get things underway with the new coach and check out these new Pac-12 venues while having a chance to win/showing progress. Next year it's probably going to be Ohio State and UCLA for me

Doood...

when we WIN this one, and break the curse of road games, and dance on their jayhawk (assuming no tazers present)
... you will SO wish you had been part of it. You put all that effort into the painful last few years, be PRESENT for the good times.

For the 400 Buffs in attendance, it would be something else to actually witness a Hawk road win in the North -- LIVE. Lawrence is one of the more appealing Big 12 towns, although that says more about how pathetic most of these towns are. Personally, it's not worth a 7 hour drive across the High Plains to see it (drove thru many states, and KS is verifiably the worst, edging out NE and NJ) Made that mistake last year -- after the KU win i figured I'd make the trek to Manhattan and help the boys salvage the season and climb to 3-4 and within bowl range. I ended up witnessing one of the worst football games ever played on the worst campus/stadium of any BCS league school (Losing 20-6, CU didn't get "killed", but they were completely non-competitive and showed zero interest in being there or attempting to win the game).

I was at KU and KSU last year, but KU in boulder was the only real drive for me. Kansas is awful coming from the west and going into it for that matter. But it's what I think about when I go to Colorado, so that helps. Kstate was an awful game to watch, and as someone who has heard every bitch and moan about Kstate football over the last 15 years, It hurt even worse. I'll be at the game in lawrence, I go to school here so I only have this last chance to see the buffs play without breaking the bank on gas money. Def. wearing B&G. My dad is a CU alum so he's coming for the game as well. Although I want a W, I won't feel too accomplished or proud afterword. This KU team is god awful.

I too had this game picked to drive for a travel game this year. Until I was reading some other message boards (mizzu, kNu, KSU, & texass) that said their tires were slashed, cars were spray painted, side mirrors, & antennas broke off. Then I looked into air fare, and it was resonable. But then having some close family members pass away the last couple of months changed all of that.

I've attended 6 games in Lawrence, and have never had any problem with the KU fans messing with my car. I did have my car keyed in Manhattan ( Mother F*****'s) and have never returned to the little apple.

I used to drive into KC for the some BBQ on Friday night and take the leftovers with me to the game on Saturday. That being said, I have zero interest in driving out this year. I will stay home and watch LSU v. Alabama

I haven't heard of KU fans being particularly bad. I don't doubt Mizzou and Corn fans have had issues in Lawrence, but that's because the KU/MU rivalry is really, really nasty. It surprised me how nasty it really is over there. And Corn fans, we'll they're just damn annoying. What North division program hasn't gotten annoyed with having 5-10k hicks in eric crouch jerseys coming into the home team's venue wearing corn on their head, trying to tell anyone who will listen what "great" and "knowledgable" fans they are, then turning extremely nasty when they get another rude reminder that their Corn won't be returning to the success of the 90s ever again.

My experience at KSU last year wasn't bad, but that's also because both teams were terrible so there wasn't the excitement about the matchup that existed 10 years ago. There were a few nasty fans, but most were alright and some very friendly. No different than the majority of road games

Free State is kind of overrated.

The bottled beer? Or hanging out at the microbrewery before and after the game?

What are the other places to hang-out in Lawrence...besides BBQ places in KC?

Sorry -the beer. Copperhead is the best, the rest is meh.

I'm partial to Free State's hefeweizen from the tap. It's is really, really good.

With Colorado being an epicenter of microbrews, I don't expect many Colorado beer drinkers to embrace a Kansas microbrews above Avery, New Belgian, Breckenridge, ect.

But when in Lawrence...

I have no idea about the bottled stuff. Boulevard is the only Kansas microbrews I see in my part of the country. I've never seen Freestate outside Kansas.

I'll be going. My friend who is a ralphie runner just told me he got free tix so i'm going along. GO BUFFS!
