"That's really what I try to talk to these guys about," he added. "It goes back to that balance of excellence and quality of class — saying it's not how many catches you get; it's not whether you're all-Big 12. It's not whether you win. It's not whether you lose. It's who you are and how you operate. ... There are going to be some things in your life not so good, and how you deal with that is really, really important.

So, putting wins and losses aside for a minute, judging him by his actions and how he operates, how has Hawkins defined himself at CU?

Just a few RECENT things that come to mind that aren't very favorable:
  • The program is burnt to the ground comment.
  • Turning his back on the kicker - Jokingly or not.
  • Leaving the post game conference early because of questions about his job security.
  • His overall attitude with the press and fans in general.
It really seems like even his fall back excuses are failing him now. What type of example does that set?

**** you Hawkins, you arent a good person. You are a ****ty football coach who makes way too much money, you have burnt this program to the ground yourself, your an egomanic, you have run kids out of town, you turn your back on kids, you treat your customers like ****. Your true colors have come out Hawk, **** off and get out of Boulder! ASSCLOWN!!!

It would appear that his message about it not being about winning has gotten through. Congratulations, coach! :woot:

my seventh grade gym teacher would say the same thing and i was able to cut through the bull**** then. he's got these kids hypnotized.

So in Hawk's world, I guess the real champion at the beauty pageant is the girl who gets Miss Congeniality.

He really needs to go coach the Special Olympics. I wouldn't even want him around my son's Pop Warner team.

Charlatan! Thanks for burning the program to the ground and teaching your players that winning in life is not important.

Every week he says something worse than the week before.

I look back at his Div 1 football, big 12, intramurals rant and realize what a poser Hawkins is. He came here telling everyone how we were going to be better coached, and work harder than any other team. If you were not on board with this, you should leave.

5 years later and he is now telling everyone that results don't matter.

F**K YOU Dan Hawkins, and a bigger F**K You to Mike Bohn for letting him stay around and continue to spout this crap out.

It wasn't Bohns Choice last year, Bohn wanted him gone.

New week, same crap. Hawk really needs to go back to a small school, even Boise is too big for him I think. Idaho would be a good place for him, nothing bigger than that.

gandhi might not take a knee, but hawkins definitely has taken one.

he's more cooked than your grandma's meatloaf, after she accidentally left it on the stove overnight.

dear hawk: GTFO

visualize deh googler if you aren't sure what i mean.

Someone send this quote to Alfred Williams and Joel Klatt. I want to hear Alfred's take this afternoon and Joel's tomorrow. Joel might blow a gasket!

His head will spin and he will spew green **** from all body openings!

It's not about winning or losing--it's how you play the game. Only losers say this

Exactly-When you are D2D you make sure everyone gets a good citizenship medal, and football participation ribbon.

It wasn't Bohns Choice last year, Bohn wanted him gone.

By all reports you are correct on this, and Bohn was undercut by his bosses in the matter. That does not explain the lack of response from CU and Bohn about the 2010 joke that is playing out.

Bohn needs to be on record today saying Hawkins is out. If CU is unwilling to make a public statement committing to improving the football program, they need to quit expecting people to show up to watch the crap that has been on the field.

And I'm sick of being the team full of players learning the important life lessons gained from losing every effing week! I want the team that needs to learn humility because they are so used to crushing everyone they play.

In all seriousness, this is exactly the wrong thing to be teaching these players. Teaching them that failure is something to be accepted is just plain irresponsible. Him saying that everything is OK so long as you're a good person misses the point that he's not there to produce good people. He's there to produce football players. The players are not there to learn life lessons, they're there to win football games. That's why they are on scholarship. That's why Hawkins is getting paid over $1MM/Year. It's to WIN.

Wait 'til these poor kids get out in the real world. Whether they're designing airplanes, selling used cars, or pumping gas.

Boss: "You ****ed up the design of that wing/only sold 3 ****ing cars this month/spill 9000 gallons of premium."

Former player under this ****ing idiot: "But I'm a good person."

Boss: "Get out."

Is this guy a TeeBall coach or what? Should we all get a trophy for going 3-9 or whatever we go because we do it the right way? We didnt win but we had fun, here is a plaque for you. Give me a ****ing break already. Those are famous last words of a fool for you right there.

Ironically, the message he's teaching them is perfectly suited for intermurals...

No wonder he said that **** the first year or whatever, I better not go to a game this year. Ive already wanted to jump through the tv a couple of hundred times.

Meanwhile, our AD seems fine with letting him further embarrass the program by making dumbass quotes like this for another 4 weeks. Fascinating, in a bad way.

You have to wonder if he continues to spew this garbage over and over again because he actually is delusional enough to believe it or is trying to justify his complete failure as a head coach in Div-I football?

I can picture him looking in a mirror every morning before work: "I believe in YOU!" "YOU are a good person!" "Wins and losses don't matter, just as long as YOU are doing things the right way you will be a WINNER."
