Just spent time on the radio in Baton Rouge talking about the possibility of Les Miles coming back to Boulder. Interesting possibilty

I have a some LSU fans in my familia. They all hate Les and want nothing more than to see him gone.

Tough crowd down in the Bayou.

So I'm guessing Kyle isn't really worrying about pissing off DII Danny these days??

sec fans in general that i have talked with, and many of them are pretty damned dialed-in and passionate about footbal and the sec, aren't impressed with les.

they think he's really underperforming... this includes bama, auburn, uga, and fla fans i have spoken with. and they think he "sounds" dumb when he talks and that he puts his foot in his mouth a lot.

personally, if he could average 10 wins a season at CU, i wouldn't give a crap what anyone thought. but, it is a bit of an apples v. oranges thing between lsu and CU. ... even okie state isn't a very apt comparison...

I'll personally drive down to Baton Rouge and Help Les with any packing or last minute items he might need to get him to Boulder

I would love having a coach who doesn't pretend to know a damn thing about anything except football. Why the hell is the radio station asking a football coach his thoughts on an oil spill?

That would be like somebody that runs an oil industry type company thinking he knows something about football...

Took this from SD over on rivals... if Miles is "underperforming", I'll take it.

LSU in the 90s, prior to Saban.
54-58-1

Under Saban
48-16

Under Miles
58-16

Okie Lite 90s prior to Miles.
39-70-3

Okie Lite under Miles.
28-21

Looks fairly good. Also, had no idea he was 58-16 at LSU. Considering their run in the 90s----- thats SEC fan for you.

I just thought it was funny.

I did too. Miles is like one of those idiot savant types. He has trouble framing things at a presser or in an interview, he doesn't have much worthwhile to say about anything except football, and he makes some wacky in-game decisions that work out for him like 80% of the time.

The "Mad Hatter" is the perfect nickname for him.

I'd love to have Les Miles as our coach. He's kind of a knucklehead but he's stand up guy.

How could you not love this guy as a coach?

i think we could offer him a somewhat similar clause to his lsu deal, with one small difference. instead of guaranteeing that he will make at least 1000 bucks more than any other sec coach, i say we guarantee him he will make no less than 1000 less than the lowest paid p12. same kind of deal. right? right? right?

somebody posted above that at Okie State he was 28-21. I would have to assume Okie State is a program more positioned like CU as opposed to LSU. Would 28-21 be acceptable to everyone here? Is that what we are looking for, mediocrity? Seems to me, LSU has some of the best talent in all of college football and regardless of whos coach, they are going to win games. Therefore his record at Okie State is more indicative of his coaching skills and I honestly want more then 28-21.

i personally would LOVE to have Les here. actually i would take anything other than what we have but i would love to see the new blood here. I really think LES would be AWESOME here. i would like him more so than Mac but thats my personal opinion.

You need to look deeper into things. In 4 years he took a program with a .300 wining percentage and no facilities to 28-21. At the time Okie Light would be far more comparable to a CSU type program, this was before TBP pumped in a **** ton of cash. Not only did he compete with higher level programs, but he beat OU twice. TO base an opinion solely on having a 28-21 record without looking deeper and understanding the facts is incredibly shortsighted.

What he did at OSU at the time, while not quite a miracle, is nothing short of incredible.

Analysis doesn't work for a number of reasons. Most importantly, hiring Les Miles in 2010 is different than hiring Les Miles as a 1st time HC in 2001 at OSU. He's got a national championship and national rep now. But even after that OSU job performance that doesn't impress you, he was selected by the people at LSU to replace Nick Saban in 2004. But he's not good enough for CU 58 wins and a ring later? Huh?

Honestly, if Miles isn't up to snuff for people then I give up. He's among the elite active college football coaches with Mack Brown, Bob Stoops, Jim Tressel, Urban Meyer and Nick Saban. No one else has had similar success over the past 6 seasons.

(Sorry for going on a bit of a rant, but this is driving me crazy. I swear, if a Logan fan like Woody Paige blasts Miles then I think my head's gonna explode.)

Why would miles leave LSU to coach at CU? Coaches want an AD and administration that WANTS to win.

He looked like he wanted to grab the sides of her head and shove it in his lap.

If he takes D2Danny's squad and goes 28-21 over the next 3 years that will be just alright with me.

No offense, but your family is dumb. If they think Miles is bad, I'll gladly trade them for Hawk straight up!
Their LSU fans. Of course they're dumb. Duh.

Thanks for reminding us that Hawkins sucks. I think we might've forgotten since the OU game.

Dang, that would mean we'd average 9 wins a year (but average 7 losses, too). Don't think we're gonna see a 16 game schedule quite yet. :smile2:

But over 4 years, that's 7-5, and most definitely an improvement I could live with, as long as it set the table for better things.

We could do a lot worse than hire Les Miles. I still have a gnarly feeling in my gut about him, though.
