Next year's schedule with Hawaii and the open date?

So it just dawned on me that we are opening the season at Hawaii. I have to imagine that Hawaii must have a really high win % in that first game of the season at home. This will be a brutal place to open up as a brand new coach.

Then there is the open date a week later. Any ideas who we may be able to schedule for that? I am guessing that would be a great place for a Idaho/Utah/Montana State type team?

And if that new coach loses to Montana State, it needs to be in the contract that they are fired right then and there.

News for ya Timbuff! Utah is not in the same category as Montana State and Idaho. I hope you meant Utah State.

Be careful what you ask for in Montana State ... The Bobcats are 8-2, 6-1 in the Big Sky - and a much better team than they were in 2006

i'm guessing the open date turns into Northern Colorado. a snoozer home game....no prestige with a W, anguish with anything other than "half a hundred" blowout. but, puts fannies in the seats and cashes the checks.

nice bookends for Hawk. the L to Montana State and the melt at Kansas.

seems to me that opening at Hawaii is better than a mid-season trip re: preparedness.

I'm hoping for Louisiana Lafayette....is that THE worst team in DII over the past 5 years...need a gimme win

The Denver Post announced last week that we're playing Cal in Boulder the week after Hawaii as a non-conference game but I don't see it on cubuffs.com.

What will be helpful against Hawai'i is that we already have the book on how to beat them, even with a decrepit coaching staff. If we were going in blind, and with the previous coaching regime's road woes, I'd be more worried. Their QB Moniz will be back, though...

Road game.

Western Kentucky, please. Let's stay in the top league, without playing a team that plays like it.

If we're going below that, let's go to the SWAC. Southern has probably the best HBCU band in the land and one of the worst football teams to go with it. It'd be a bigger gimme than anybody on the front range and might draw some people to the game just to hear the band.

I vote for New Mexico Lobos. They have the opening due to MWC realingment and are about as easy a Win you could schedule without losing respect for playing them. They might even travel halfway decent up I-25 to help fill the coffers.
