With the conference move and associated increased revenue, and one of the greatest locales in college football, there is no reason to not lure a great coach. I don't expect him to have already won a national championship, but to have proven himself at the BCS level.

Somewhere between 3-4. If history has taught long-time CU fans anything it is that there is no such thing as slam-dunk when hiring a coach.

Right now, I'm going to assume it will be someone like Mac or EB which either way will be a major upgrade over Talkins. This puts me in the 4 - 4.5 range

I believe Bohn is making an honest effort to go after the big fish. I could be setting myself up for a letdown. But as of right now I expect to be 100% stoked when he makes the announcement.

This is the worst poll ever. I don't love you any less for it Nik, but whiskey tango foxtrot?

It reminds me of something a vapid friend of a vapid roommate once said in regards to an episode of Dawson's Creek. Specifically, she said, "I didn't cry as much as I expected to."

What? You had emotional expectations regarding an episode of a teeny soap opera? And your expectation to cry a certain amount was somehow unfulfilled?

That's some crazy ****, right there.

No idea how it'll really go, but right now I'm going to be optimistic that we land a coach that gets me excited for the future of the program.

1 for sure. I am getting more confident all the time Bohn is going to f*ck this one up. Plus if if I go in as negative as possible, even if its a 2, I'll be ****ing ecstatic.

What is "Dawson's Creek"? Some tv show you watch?

I fully expect Bohn to overthink this and outsmart himself, and go with someone that is a reach. Doesn't mean it won't work out - but it will cause everyone to take a wait and see approach.

i voted #3. Mac being in the picture sort of complicates things for me. Either he gets the job, which feels a bit forced but i can live with and get behind though not my first choice.......or he doesn't, and it's like we turned our back on the man.

I can honestly tell you that I've never seen so much as one second of Dawson's Creek. But you can't tell me--even if you've never seen it--that you're unaware of it's existance.

But this isn't about me, or even a TV show. This is about a poll which requires us to anticipate an emotional response to a future event which will be the result of a process of whose inter-workings we have no real knowledge. Look, I'm pretty in touch with my feelings, but even uber-therapist can't convince me to analyze my future feelings.

I will be cautiously optimisitic. I have a feeling this coach will dig us out of a talent hole, and the next one will do more of the winning. We are in a bad place right now.

I'm sure you've got a poster on your bedroom wall or a trapper keeper or something. :wink2:

Anyway, the reason I started this is that I've actually seen a lot of people posting that they expect Bohn to **** it up or getting really excited about certain candidates (expecting to be let down or fulfilled, I don't know). Thought people would have some fun with this.

Philosophically, I agree with you. In fact, it's a major deal with me that I guard against in my own thinking. A lot of people waste time and emotional energy stressing out over how they will react if something happens. Even if it never happens, they've had the upsetness to some degree of what they would have experienced. You know the saying, "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it". I use a variation of that all the time when I see others stressing over a possible eventuality or I catch myself having an emotional reaction to something that hasn't happened: "That bridge doesn't exist yet".

So you're absolutely right. But lighten up, Francis. :smile2:

So you could start a poll that says something like:

How do you expect Bohn to perform in hiring a new coach.

1. **** it up.

2. Meh. Poorly.

3. Do okay, but not great.

4. Pretty Good.

5. Homerun 2 Electric Bugaloo.

But wait. There's no way to guage the quality of the hire until the new coach performs. So all we have to guage is our emotional response based on how we expect the new coach to perform. But until that coach is hired, all we can do is anticipate what we think our response will be to Bohn's projected hire, and our anticipated emotions are the only way to judge that.

I take it all back. You're actually a ****ing genius. You covered your bases here. I'm serious.

Poll: How do you expect to feel about your hangover today, Navy?

My cocktail hour was way over stated last night. Feeling great today. The issue last night was I got all fired up reading Coach Cabral's email, then read the other thread, and started over-nuking things - got frustrated. Especially at those who can't see the forest through the trees re: Mac/EB/Embree. Had to vent. But, I'm still not confident about Bohn right now. Definitely a "show me the money" scenario, and I think dio's post about overthinking says it all.

Getting excited for the game watch then going to UT-OSU game as part of Veterans' Salute at the stadium. Hob-nobbing with the guys who really "did it all."

I kept drinking after the game last night. I barely remembered posting that when I read it this morning. Now that I look at it, it does set up well for a follow-up poll after we've actually made the hire. Same response options. I think this works.

I expect to be mildly entertained by someone's meltdown no matter who is hired.

I expect a kickass coach considering two really want the job. I am worried Bohn will over think it though.

What ever happened to the "$50 mil Club" or whatever? Was that just some drunk alum talking out his ass on the golf course? They might be able to save the program with 1/10 of that if they help us get a Bellotti, Richt, or Miles... When Bohn says he'd be suprised if we could come up with $2/yr, hopefully he's lowballing so we can negotiate to something a little higher.
