What do you think the biggest difference was in the game without big Hawk?

I thought it was the defensive play calling. With the lead the defense kept bringing it. They didn't ever rush only 3 guys and drop everyone else in coverage. The whole game they were bringing guys in and rushing the QB. The end result was 8 sacks, a defensive TD, and a big W!

Agree 100%, our DT looked great today too, taking on blockers and stuffing the run game. Plus we changed up where the pressure was coming from.

We also threw the ball downfield quite a bit. ISU didn't stack the line like OU did against us (not sure why), but it opened up opportunities as did the running game.

However, I'd agree with you though. We still brought the heat even when the game was decided (by the way we were playing). I like that intensity.

It was nice to see us stick with running game too even tho it wasn't really clicking, the commitment was there. It helped open a lot for the passing game.

The 4th quarter was fun to watch, as we didn't play not to lose. We played to win. That might have been the biggest difference, right there.

Team played hard, loved watching the D really get after it today. Been a long time since I can remember when I saw our D flying around like that..

More fire, defense played hard and were bringing the heat more often.

Offense still sucked in the 4th quarter again.

The biggest difference was the OL pass blocking.

I don't think anyone can bitch about the O in the 4th....they did exactly what everyone wanted them to do last week.

Didn t see last week's 4th quarter play calling but thought Cabral was very solid by staying with the running game and working the clock.

My only criticism is, WTF was that 3 kneel downs at the end of the game? If they ran it (once probably would have been enough) they probably could have taken a knee to finish, but having to punt just made it look like the coaches couldn't do the time math.

What I saw was that the players were loose, having fun and just playing ball. They looked and felt lighter out there and it showed in how they played.
They also played with a lot of fire and passion. It was much closer to the inspirational kind of play that we expect from our buffs.

Until today Collins was Cabral's superior. Now Cabral is Collins superior. And the defensive gameplan looked much better. Coincidence?

They weren't asked to calm down after a big play, or asked to not get fired up after a bad play. This Zen crap is what got KS to upset us last week. Quoted from Denver Post:
"I was trying to set a tone of encouragement, a tone of excitement," Cabral said. "I wanted to celebrate and when things didn't go well, I wanted to be the encourager.

Not having an idiot as the captain of the ship. Hawkins couldn't have won this game. He would have 4u_k#d it up some kind of way.

Anyone see the interview with McKnight after the game? He said that Cabral instilled some past traditions, I found that interesting.

The team looked like it had a purpose. It looked like it had a plan for what it wanted to do, and wasn't going to be swayed from that plan.

It may be way early.....

but is Cabral HC material?

It is early, but I think he should be given some consideration. His biggest drawback is his personality, which is kind of mellow. Not a great interview. He doesn't inspire the boosters and fans. OTOH, if the team wins, the rest of that stuff will take care of itself.

It is indeed early. I wish I had a dollar for every "interim" coach that won in the first game after a traumatic firing at a major university.

I am now watching Lou Holtz talk about the Florida - So Carolina game at half. I think the Buffs should indeed go out and try to get Lou.....

: - ) By the way I now feel like a legitimate AllBuffs member.

The differnce? We won.

J/K, kind of. We just looked more relaxed. Way more relaxed. Both the players and the coaches.

that was classic at the end of the interview....

SS: Sorry to keep you from the fight song with your team.

SM: Yeah! That was weak!

SM pats her on the shoulder and runs off with a **** eating grin.

I'm not sold yet, but if he somehow wins out, then yeah he needs to be VERY seriously considered. That may not be fair, but this is the best interview opportunity he will ever have and I am glad that he will always know that he personally coached Colorado to a win as the man in charge.
