Question for our Texans... will Bobby Kennedy be available?

There's some speculation that Kennedy (who was a Boulder High standout and UNC grad) will be among the scapegoats from this year's UT offensive staff. He has been the WR Coach there for the past 7 years (assistant recruiting coordinator since 2005).

For those of you who may know something about the situation at UT, are they likely to get rid of Kennedy?

If he's available, do we want him?

If so, in what capacity? Recruiting Coordinator/WR Coach? Is he ready to be a Passing Game Coordinator or even an Offensive Coordinator?

Funny you should ask, 'Nik. was listening to Geoff Ketchum and Chad Hastings on the Afternoon Drive today and a round table question of "over/under on number of UT assistants to be gone at he end of the season? Number at 3.5" Both Geoff and Chad agreed that the coach to make the over would be Greg Davis.

But the consensus on the under was 2 of 3 would be the OL coach and WR coach...therefore, Kennedy. The third varied between different defensive assistants.

How much actual recruiting do assistants at UT do? Maybe a lot, but it just seems every year UT has a junior day and basically selects who they want to offer scholies to. I would wonder how effective someone making the transition to CU would be when you don't have the same recruiting luxuries.

He certainly wouldn't do as well as he has at UT. But I believe the relationships he has developed with Texas high school coaches are extremely important. Those take years to build. Maybe we don't immediately pull the 4* guys from his area (looks to be DFW and parts of north Texas), but I would bet we would immediately be competing with and winning our fair share against Kansas, Mizzou, Texas Tech, Okie Lite, TCU and other programs that have been killing us there for the better 3* guys.

You're right about that 'Nik, but one thing we need to start taking into consideration now is that we are no longer in the Big 12. Going to be that much harder to sell CU when you can't say you're playing in the same conference as UT, A&M, OU and OSU so there'll be plenty of chances for Mama to see you on TV.

Now, then again, there was a certain coach a few years back that didn't seem to have problems pulling great talent from Texas when UT and CU weren't in the same conference.:smile2:

I have heard in the past that the Texas coaches each have regions that they are responsible for recruiting, they don't necessarily just recruit their positions. However there's probably lots of overlap etc... I know nothing about this guy in particular.
