New rival

This probably has been talked about, but I didn't see it.

So, who is the new hated rival? I'd lean toward Ricky and UCLA - because of him and how soon we will be competetive w/ other teams. Problem is, we'd all have to junk our Nuggets' stuff. No powder blue in the fieldhouse!

Go Buffs!

mac would say **** the huskers! and maybe usc and oregon but **** the huskers

I think Mac would say USC. Same division, lots of history, great program. Yeah, he'd point to USC. Of course, everybody in the league does the same thing. We wouldn't exactly be blazing new ground there.

I'd like to think & hope it'll be Utah because I want Turkey weekend to really mean something special to me. Plus, I hate the color red.

Otherwise, I'm sure something natural will grow with another team or set of teams. Immediate thoughts:
USC - why not go after the historical best?
Oregon/NikeU - already compete for recruits, looking like the current top dog of the Pac
UCLA - Ricky, nothing else to say

It's Utah. You can't choose to be a rival with a UCLA if they already have a rival in USC. Then you carry secondary rival status, which means you are not really a rival in the first place. If that makes sense.

CU and UU are the newbies, so we are rivals. Though we will both maintain OOC rivalries with our ghey in-state brothers, CSU and BYU.

OU was ****braskas rival.

Big XII killed it.

Back to topic, it will be Utah.

I don't want a rival just to have one. It's not like I hated nebraska fans because I was told to. I hated them because they annoy me. We don't need a rival; let's just play football.

I think the rival thing, is to give the team - and maybe the fans - a seondary goal and focus. Even when you can't win the division, you can still beat nu. Especially if your rivalry game is the last of the season

Why not? There isn't enough hate in the world, Wally.

Seriously, can you tell me that you've never enjoyed a grudge ****.

Man, this is getting old. The Pac-10 was perfect because EVERY team had a natural, hated rival. CU has one option and one option only - Utah!!! We're the remainders! Sure, CU-Oregon or CU-USC could become a big deal over the years, but Utah will be the season-ender for us, simply because there are no other options.

I hate the Utah Jazz and the MLS teams from both states don't like each other. I have no doubts that it will spill over to college sports.

I disagree that Utah will be only a season ender for us...there is a rivalry and possibly haterd between the two states that is about to explode. Jazz fans hate the Nuggets while Nuggets fans hate the Jazz and the hate is real between the two NBA teams. It won't take long to hate them...I even rooted for the Rams against the Utes back in the late 1990's.
