This showed up on Rivals and Az's site... the source site is free and an open forum... enjoy

He may just be trying to drive traffic to the site, but other people are saying there might be something to it. UGA denies it all, of course, they wouldn't want anything getting out until after the season, true or not, so that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Bobby Burton posted this, he used to be Rivals Texas guy and one of the main guys at Rivals. Still might be, can't really tell if he's working for both sites.

24-7 Sports Bobby Burton

Earlier today, multiple reputable people told me the same thing.
Texas had been contacted by Georgia or agents of Georgia to request permission to speak with Will Muschamp.
While Georgia is expected to retain Mark Richt as its coach for next season, Richt has also been a possibility for Colorado and Richt has just three years remaining on his deal with Georgia and is seeking a contract extension.
Colorado may be a viable option for Richt because they can actually offer longer term stability than Georgia depending on the length of the agreement reached between CU and Richt and depending whether or not Georgia and Richt negotiate an extension.
Along with another reporter, we have placed phone calls to sources at Texas and to the AD at Georgia. As of right now, we have not been able to get up with the Georgia AD.
However, sources at Texas have refuted that they have been contacted by or spoken to anyone at Georgia. This goes in direct opposition to what we were told by several people today.
That's where we're at right now.
We waited to get confirmation or denial from Georgia.

Bobby Burton reporting Mark Richt possibly to CU, UGA talking to Muschamp.

some Texas friend text me that is what is being reported on Bobby Burton's website. Says UGA wants Richt to stay but might not be offering a contract extension so he could leave. The ones that know recruiting websites and Bobby Burton more than I do can probably find it.. I'm lazy.

If anything its nice to see big names mentioned considering the state of the program.

Richt concerns me a little, Dawg fans think he's burnt out and wanting to focus on his missionary work. Any good interviewer should be able to pick that out though.

I agree, but I think this all smoke until the season ends. Back channels maybe used to see if someone is interested, but at the same time this may be used as leverage for some coaches.

I say smoke.

I still don't see any reason for Mark Richt (or Les Miles) to give up jobs where they are earning HUGE paychecks, to come to CU where they have:

1) Less salary
2) Less resources
3) Less support
4) Similar expectations

Richt is making $3.1 million right now. He has a "longevity clause" in his contract, similar to what Barnett had. The stories I have read indicate that it would cost Georgia approximately $7 million to terminate him.

I just don't think it is very likely that Miles / Richt would give up their cash cows to come to cash strapped CU.

If Mark Richt is the next CU coach... I really don't know what I'll do. Just the thought of it made me pee myself a bit in excitement.

Two big scoops:

You're joking, right? Expectations at an $EC school are way beyond good ole CU.

Richt was born in Omaha, Nebraska and grew up a Nebraska Cornhuskers football fan, but was not recruited by the Huskers. He graduated in 1978 from Boca Raton High School in Boca Raton, Florida, where he was a star quarterback. He played for the University of Miami in the early 1980s, graduating in 1982. He served as backup quarterback to future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly, although an injury to Kelly early in the 1982 season put Richt in the starting role for most of the season.

Yo, this mother****er ain't one of us. He said he'd **** a sheep!

Uh... no.
my bad

Read the coach's bio and you won't discover he spent some of his best formative years in Broomfield. His father, Lou, worked for IBM in Boulder in the 1970s, and Mark, born in Omaha, spent 6 1/2 years at Kohl Elementary and Broomfield Junior High
that was from the dp article when georgia came

The stuff in this rumor could also be a negotiating ploy by either Richt or UGA, couldn't it?

no job security, one bad season moving forward and either of them will be dumped.

Maybe this is a way to pressure the UGA AD into giving Richt an early extension?

That's exactly what I think it is. But it makes it no less real for CU. If he doesn't get the extension, I could definitely see him choose at least 5 years of job security in Boulder over 1 year coaching for his life in Athens.

yeah, UGA has fired it's last 3 coaches with well above .500 records. including Richt, Ray Goff and Jim Donnan were well above .500 abd bowl teams when UGA canned them. Dan Hawkins was never above .500.

Donnan was like 4-2 in bowl games or something, i looked this up UGA week. got ****-canned

How much would the buyout cost?
