All these rumors

Big names like Miles, Richt and Bellotti.

Are we really going to land someone like this? Bohn basically said the new head coach won't get over $2 million. Are we kidding ourselves?

I know it is fun to get into the rumors and hope and cross the fingers.

I just think we may be getting our hopes too high.

FWIW, I hope we aren't getting our hopes too high.

It is going to be a long couple of weeks.

Don't worry. Junction will keep'em honest. Junc is AB's Anderson Cooper.

I think if the right coach comes along, that $2 million figure can be stretched a bit (not much mind you, but enough).

Belloti can be had in the 2mm range and it seems as though he'd consider it an added benefit to stick it to Orgeon. Our Biggest issue there is Wazzu.

As BB said, "A bit."

But let's keep in mind that $2 million+ is elite salary range. I believe that under 25 coaches make that. To even say "$2 million" means we're thinking pretty big.

Wow, I would think that shouldn't be an issue.

I was just comparing Wazzu to KSU saying they were the KSU of the Pac.

they are in the same division as UO and the AD there now is the guy who hired Belloti at Orygun.

I heard that Wazzou's coach probably bought another year with the OSU win. Between financial constraints and a year until the new Pac-12 money kicks in, odds are that they wait. But Bellotti may be waiting too and will be able to pick between WSU and ASU next year after his son has graduated high school.

I can't see Bellotti ever going to WSU. CU is a vastly better job and have you guys seen a map? Pullman is at least an hour and a half drive from Spokane, let alone a major city. Plus WSU's athletic department isn't flush with cash.

On ASU, they're keeping Erickson for another year. With their returning talent, they will likely make a bowl game next year, which would make it very hard for them to fire him at that point. Could it happen? Sure. And while I think it's much more likely Bellotti ends up there than WSU, I'm still not convinced it's a sure thing.

What about UCLA? How long is Rick's leash? I could see Bellotti there.

I don't really remember Junc with gray hair.

Mine has picked up a few gray stragglers. I'd shoot you a picture--Favre style--if DD wouldn't get all upset.

EDIT: Oops, looks like dply already picked up on that low-hanging fruit (so to speak).

CU will not, repeat, will not, be under a threat from Wazzu for coaching competition. WSU is a wasteland, coaching and otherwise. For all the particular hurdles Cu may have for FB, WSU is far and away less attractive. If you have ever been to Pullman, you know.

That's why we better act fast. I know I'm biased, but CU is a better job than Minnesota. No?
I think CU is a much better job than Minnesota. But I think that UCLA and Washington are probably better jobs than CU. How many years will UW give Sark?

But that's the good thing about CU's position - it looks like CU might be the best available job this off season. If I'm a coach, I don't know that I want to wait around for a better job. Things can change pretty quickly. Look at Sumlin. 15 games ago, we were drooling over the guy, now we he's a "meh." With respect to Bellotti, if he really wants to get back into coaching, maybe he decides he can't wait a year. There is no guarantee that (1) a better job will become available, and (2) it is awarded to Bellotti.

I don't know what it is, but something with Bellotti doesn't sit right with me. I know that I should probably be excited if CU got Bellotti.
