Things appear to be breaking for CU in coaching search

I noticed with interest that Arizona State's AD has come out and said Dennis Erickson will not be fired after this season -- which is good news for CU because it means one less "high"(ish) profile job that won't be open. Rumor was that this was the job Belotti was holding out for.

It looks like Rich Rod will keep his job in Michigan, Mke Sherman will keep his job in Aggie-land, and now Erickson will keep his job at ASU. Other openings may (or have) occurred at Minnesota, New Mexico, Washington State and Illinois, but I think the CU job is better than all of those.

At the end of the day, CU may be the highest profilt job opening this season, which means we could have our pick of the litter. We've heard that Belotti, Richt, Mac, and Scotter have been contacted, and none of them have said they don't have any interest. Each of these candidates would, in my humble opinion, be very good coaches for CU. We may have the opportunity to pick our coach, which is a great position to be in.

It's interesting that Stewie Mandel is the first national reporter to talk about Gruden to CU. I think Gruden would be a great get, but I just don't know how realistic it is. It's funny that at this point I'd be disappointed if we end up with one of Mandel's can't miss candidates (Leach).

I think we're in a great position here.

Isn't Gruden getting something like $4mm for the announcer gig? I can't see him leaving to come here for $2mm a year. One of the great things about EB is I bet he will come cheaper than most everyone on our "board". That lack of HC/OC experience could actually be what gets him in here. If he had that, he would currently be in line for a HC job at pretty much any NFL team and BCS team.

whatever, looking forward to being the #1 hiring story if we make the right hire. good pub.

Lots of good news coming out of Boulder right now... let's hope we don't **** it up

I have no scoop - just saying we better not **** up all this momentum we are gaining for football.

according to woodys article... Les miles has no exit buyout to any other school than Michigan...

First time I have read Mike Nolans named mentioned.

No need to interview a handful on Woody's list. Logan and Watson are the first that come to mind.

I don't believe for a minute that we would get Chuckie but he's pretty interesting. Apparently he was considering coming to Oregon to be an assistant for a while so he could study Chip Kelly's offense. If he took a college job, I don't believe it would be for the money. It would just be something he really wants to do. He seems to enjoy announcing a lot and I don't get the impression he misses coaching in the NFL that much.

Gruden coached in college for what - a couple years? Back in 1990?

I think he is an interesting choice, but I think he is pretty unprepared for what college coaching holds.
