Should Cabral be the next HC?

No. I love the guy, but he will not be the next head coach. Yeah, the team looks way better, and credit to Brian. But the biggest reason for the improvement, IMO, is that a load of bricks has been lifted off their and the assistant's shoulders.

Yes, Cabral should be the next HC.

At UNC or another smaller program that's looking for a coach. I'm impressed with what he's doing, and I'd love to see him get the HC shot he wants. But it would probably be a good idea for him to start at a smaller program instead of jumping right into a job like CU.

Selfishly I hope he'll stay in Boulder as the next DC. But he wants to be a HC and what he's done the last 2 weeks tells me he should be, somewhere....

I think he deserves consideration, but I would go another direction. That said, this team is not suddenly better just because there is less pressure on the staff/players. So much more than that.

This
It would be a really nice story for him to get the job but I'm not convinced that he's the right guy for the job. I will add that I was sure he was not the guy 3 weeks ago and what he has done the last two weeks has made me question that.

we beat the corn, go on and win a bowl game? I think you bring him in with Mac as director of football operations and fund-raising.

"Director of Football Operations?" Are you suggesting a new position? There is no such thing, is there?

some schools have it, typically they help out with non-essential operations, talk to boosters, interact with fans, co-ordinate recruiting, and free the coach up to to the coaching. If Mac was willing he could add mentoring BC out to this as well.

If he wins on Friday, he should get serious consideration.

One thing about Cabral.

My dad being a former player went and talked to the team before the game with other former players. When he got back up to the seats, I asked him how it went.

He told me there should be no search commitee, that the coach should be the one coaching right now.

I told him I will have a better opinion of Cabral after next week. He turned to me and said, "Thats because you don't know him like I do!"

Thought that was pretty powerful.

I love Cabral but I wonder about his public speaking. He wears his emotions on his sleeve and when he's being interviewed/speaking to a group he tends to stumble on his words at times. Sometimes I wonder how that is perceived by somebody who may not know him. He also tends says what he's thinking when maybe it was something that maybe he should have kept to himself. I don't know...it's hard to explain... Almost like a politician who's very good but will never be President because he's not 'Presidential.' I may not be explaining it the right way.

who cares, if he can win (especially at a top 10 Nebraska), then he works for me!

I like Cabral, and would rather have him (with some good coordinators) than Mike Bellotti, but I think that EB will bring in the players that we need for the Pax-12.

I dunno. I won't root against him but we have to be careful and not get caught up in the moment. Logic not passion needs to drive this process.

Hard to say no if he beats Nebraska. However, it may be a mistake to pass up an opportunity to land someone from the "A list". Cabral could end up being the next Bill Stewart...

Logically, Mac would never have beaten NU (except for '94). Football is a game of emotion.

Yes. The guy has been a part of CU for 21 years. I would rather have him that McCartney who hasn't coached anything for 16 years. Plus, you ain't getting any A list guy for the money they might be offering. I say announce it Monday and watch the team get really excited for him and go into Lincoln Friday and win it for him.

That is not an apt comparison. Mac came in 82 and set a bulls eye on the fuskers and it took 4 years. It is a game of emotion but Mac had a plan and executed on it. Winning 3 games doesn't make him Mac. If he does win 3. I dunno. I am torn honestly.

If Cabral wins the next two games, he should with out question be considered for HC. I don't know how we'd go wrong in hiring a coach, but unfortunately Bohn-ner could find a way to do so.

Sorry, Liv, but I think it is a good comparison. We will never have more talent than the big dogs. It's what you do with what you have that makes a champion. JMO.

What if he wins 4 straight? That's the point I start to think he might be the guy. This is a different team we're seeing right now. The only question is why they're different...

Football is a game of emotion. Hiring a football coach is not the same as a game of football. That process needs to be based on logic, not emotion. Getting the team to play emotionally is one factor that needs to be considered, but the people making the decision need to be logical about it.

I think its a different team because they no longer are playing under pressure. And I think that circumstance is perfect for BC's laid back but tough style. But I don't think it projects into him building a perrenially winning program.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I don't know for sure.

Cabral is no Bill Stewart or Dabo Sweeney. His Buff blood runs deep and he understands the Pride and Tradition, hell, he's the one that has kept the pride and tradition alive on life support(along with connection to ex players) during the recent darkness. I hope he is considered, and that if he isn't hired the man that is brings the same or greater character and resolve to the position. We don't need a big splash, we need a rock to build on.
