Martinez still on team

Well something went down, I don't think this rumor would have gotten the play had their not been some sort of rumblings in Stincoln. I read an interesting article from the LSJ about Pelini going overboard and how his actions are becomming tiresome not only with their prez but his whining about officiating has nothing to do with the Nubskers leaving but the officials are just tired of his abuse and they don't cut him any slack.

cbs sports is saying basically the same, he hasn't quit or left. Good. We won't have to worry about a Schellenberger asterisk.

It's more than tiresome, I think the guy's off his rocker. I understand passion, but he's just angry. The guy finds time in the middle of a game to scream at his QB about some bull****? WTF? Doesn't he have better things to do at that time-like coach his team? I think his anger affects his judgment and it will cost the corn some games.

The rivals.com MainBoard is saying Martinez is suspended for the rest of the season... but still on the team for now

I am happy T-mart is still on the team. The more drama that can be created with him, Bo yelling at him, Bo blaming the officials, and the potential suspention of player/coach are great. This kind of stuff builds on itself, and can tear a team apart on game day.

If he is suspended it is because his ankle it too jacked to play, broken, ligament, etc.

This is a team that allowed serial domestic violence abusers keep playing, they are not going to suspend their best QB option because he sent dad a text while waiting on his ankle x-ray.

If the nubs truly were the "classiest" fans in football they would be screaming that BoP get suspended for making the university look like a bunch of assclowns on national tv.

At the end of the day all nub fan cares about is getting the W, and everything else, not matter how bad, is secondary.

There's more to it then Martinez texting his dad. He was basically gone this summer if he didn't start. It sounds like he is a cancer in the locker room and Pelini isn't having it. It's the perfect storm for the Buffs

No offense, but I think is a case of the pot calling the kettle black. I don't care what it takes, the win is most important to me, as long as there is no actual rule breaking. Call me classless, but I bet many here feel the same.

I don't feel that way... I want wins as bad as anyone, but I don't want some *****HAT screaming at kids, whining at refs, and representing my university in anyway that makes me hesitate.

I understand your point and I want to win, but there is clearly a line for me, and Bo is dancing all over that line.

I like getting W's as much as anyone, but if players get arrested for assault, DUI, or whatever I have no problem if coaches immediately suspend players. The nubs have a history of player discipline, only when the discipline does not effect the chance of winning the game.

As a hater of all things corn, I loved watching BoP repeatedly blow a gasket during the game, but if he was the head coach of my team I would be embarrassed by his behavior.

Thus, why I said no rule breaking. I consider breaking the law as breaking the rules of conduct on the team.

If this were any more explosive a combination they would have to call in the ATF. You have a spoiled brat QB who thinks his stuff doesn't stink and who's dad enables his every move combined with a nutcase coach who can't order luch without yelling at somebody.

Put the QB in the middle of Siberia (oops meant to say Nebraska, same thing,) away from his family and friends and add the coach losing a game to an inferior aTm team and blowing a gasket at the referees in the process.

I agree that if he were healthy there would be no "suspension" since winning takes precedence over anything else in the land of bulls*** (that's what they produce with most of the corn, and with their media coverage.) I also see a perfect storm brewing as he still has his RS year to use when he sits out his transfer.

Pelini on the other hand is going to have to explain his lack of control, his emotional blow-ups of which this is just the latest, the bad press created by his brother playing around with boosters wifes, and most importantly to nubs fans, losing to below standard Texas and a bad aTm team. If they don't beat CU then things will get really bad for him. If Martinez then transfers the real estate signs are going to be showing up on lawns again. The wild card in all this is that the blowing up at referees and acting like a jerk plays better in the Big XII with its weak conference leadership than it does in the Big X. I wonder if NU hasn't already had some of their new conference mates subtly suggest that Pelini needs to tone it down before they start conference play.

My corn co-worker says that most of the NU fans are okay with Bo. They believe he is going old school (Woody Hays, Bo Schmbleckler, etc.) on the team and they think it's a good thing, a necessary thing to get this team back to where it used to be. They are 9-2 so it could be argued they are correct.

IMO, the coaches in CFB history that acted like Bo does were allowed to be that way because they delivered W's on the field. Bo seems to be delivering enough W's that the corn nation is willing to tolerate his behavior but as soon as he has a 6-7 season or two I think they will run run him out of town for being a hot tempered windbag.

What I'm hearing is that Bo and his brother are safe no matter how the season plays out. The Corn fans are happy with the D and don't want to see any changes on that side of the ball. Even if Martinez leaves, it will be blamed on Watson so the Pelinis (on a quick glance it looks like "penis" - ironically accurate ha ha!) will be safe. I am hearing that Shortbus Watson is gone. History. Adios muchacho. The corn nation is extremely frustrated with the O's lack of production, horrible play calling and lack of an overall identity. I expect the corn to make big changes in the O coaching staff this off season.

It's the Mangino syndrome.

Wasn't Martinez committed somewhere else (other than the asylum-figured I'd beat a fify here) until he switched at the last minute to go to kNU?

You must be a Teacher in the Public School system...everyone gets a medal! Nobody gets disciplined!

What the heck, let's let players tweet from the bench..it would be like we are in the middle of thee action!

No, NU was 1st to offer and others made a late run. Talk of transfer to UCLA if not the starter in the fall.

Tim Beck, from Kansas, was brought in to help run the offense. He would be the heir apparent. I don't see an issue with Watson.

Where would most teams be with their 3rd string QB? What would their offense look like?

Look at the production with the 1s.

I didn't say Pelini's firing was imminent. I do wonder however how much patience the fans and administration will have if things keep going the way they are it could become an issue sooner than later. Remember that Solich had nine wins the year he was fired and by most reports he didn't have the PR issues that the Pelinis keep generating.

Just as a starting point, what happens if NU loses to CU and in the bowl. That gives them a three game losing streak going into next year. Martinez transfers and kNU gets off to a weak start. Fresno is not the Fresno of old but if NU is struggling they could make them look bad. Washington should not be a huge threat but in some ways are improving. Then the corn get a bye week with Wyoming followed by Wisconsin and Ohio State on consecutive weeks. They could play well and be 3-2, slip a little and be 2-3 or worse. For a fan base used to being at least 3-1 coming into league this might be hard to take.

Of course this is all assuming that Peline doesn't really blow a gasket somewhere and do something really stupid in addition like punch a ref or something. This could get really fun to watch from the outside, not so much fun for the corn fans.
