Remember when the Fuskers crowed about getting Watson as OC?

Never been a fan of his. He's shown that he can come out and have our offense firing on all cylinders one week and the next week we look totally inept as a football team, at least offensively. I would like to see him go, but what do I know. Hey, you guys need a head coach..................he's a super nice guy and would be a great fit! :smile2:

SW is one of those guys who's mission as a coach/person/ego seems to be that he has to outsmart the other guy *in addition* to winning. Occam's razor is bull**** really (only morons think the world is simple); but SW's best games at CU didn't require too much thinking. just handoffs and play action to Dan Graham. He has to re-invent the wheel every time.

the weird high school offense he tried to run with Craig Ochs made my head hurt.

**** you!!!

(just wanted to be the first to say it in this thread...)

If only they'd listened to us about "bubble screen Shawn."

Actually ... I'm kind of glad they didn't. :smile2:

I don't recall them crowing about that. When Franklin got canned for winning 9 games they sat up in their chairs. Few seemed enamored with Callahan when he got the nod. When he showed Bo the door it got less friendly. At that point Watson was hired and few noticed.

I recall NW fans warning us about Okruch. Didn't they warn us about Watson too?

The one thing that really f-ing annoys me about him is he trys to get too cute on offense and goes away from what's working. Take the ISU game for instance, the wildcat was working, ISU wasn't prepared for it. So what does Watson do? HE STOPS F-ING RUNNING IT! Makes no sense at all and he does this every game. He looks like a genious against weak defenses because our offense does well, but then his true colors come out against decent defenses.

Well then you should be fine. Perusing fuskermax.com everyone seems convinced that our defense is the worst ever. Boom, easy victory for you.

No way bohn would even talk to watson about coaching here again plus when he was on with klatt and cj he didnt sound like he would want to come back.
so i hope he gets a contract extension in huskerville.

Watson scares me a little. He's been somewhat of a savant. There are many games where he is inept and dysfunctional but then he always has 1 or 2 games where he's creates a great game plan and calls a very good game (2001 Neb for example). I worry that Friday's game may be that good one for him. Hopefully the Penis borthers have taken him out of the coaching loop because I've heard that, win or lose, he is gone after the end of the season.

It always amazed me how Shawn Watson could take the west coast offense that we were supposed to be running and make it so incredibly predictable. He never ran more than 7 or 8 different plays in a game. We used to call the plays in the stands before each play and we were almost always right. first a slow developing counter. Then a bootleg. Then the bubble screen. It worked in 2001, because we had 7 or 8 starters that made pro rosters and assistants like EB and Embree and Steve Marshall. Didn't work too well with retreads like Borberly and Gillmore.

I remeber once that he was using the 98G and it was working well and he stayed with it. All day. One of the running backs scored 6 TDs using the same play. It was awesome. You should have seen it.

From what I've heard you don't know what you are talking about, unless he is going to be the Buffs new HC.

The only people talking about SW being our next head coach are Nebraska fans. I'm assuming you don't really think this is even a possibility, right? Unless you've been reading Huskerpedia again.

And why exactly would anybody hire SW as a head coach? 5 years of mediocre offense at Nebraska? The last 3 years of his tenure as CU's OC?
