Maybe one of the guru's can correct me, but I don't think any recruiting is happening right now.

Yep. The next staff has a bunch of visits to use in December/January and can also bank the remainders for next season.

We're going to need them with that huge junior class we're going to need to replace in 2012. We're going to be over 25 guys down, so I'm assuming we'll take some early enrollees and maybe some transfers to try to push our roster as close to 85 as possible.

Regarding Imamura, I know next to nothing about him. I saw that blog post yesterday in the DP (Link) and plan on putting a profile together for him. I'll just use this thread and add it to the OP.

That is why it is just as important for the new coach to get a jump start on 2012 recruiting while he finishes up this class. The 2012 class will go a long way in determining the next coach's success IMO.

Well today is the first day you can get into recruits homes for the next 3 weeks so we need a coach. We need someone to get into mullen this week and get the 4 top players from that team in here.

No reason someone like Kiesau can't be doing that. He's under contract for next year and has been a heck of a recruiter. I would hope he would take a tour of the state this week with Hagan and/or Cabral in tow. Ambrose is also auditioning to stay on and this would be a good opportunity to show his worth to the new coach.

That is not until December 1st. It is more important to get the hire right than rushing to make a decision for recruiting.

We already got Daigh, hope we get Willingham to join him. Beyond that... meh.

EDIT: It actually does start today, but it still important not to rush into a hire.

Think Rivals and Scout might actually miss one or two kids every once in a while? Nah, never happen.

He can't be any good, he doesn't have stars

I never said. He wasn't good but if you have a big boy sniffing around... they usually rank the kid

I guess I failed to select the sarcasm font. I think you could build a pretty good team just with the guys that the services miss on and that only get recruited by one or two major schools. Unless the kid or somebody representing him contacts the services they don't know about him. The schools aren't allowed to tout their recruits (although some will using backdoor sources) and if Ohio State is the only big school in on him they would prefer that he not be publicized.

Remember that Speedy never was ranked until late in the process and even then was a surprise to many on signing day. Most schools have a few of these guys on their rosters. It would be impossible for the services to know about every player in the country at the HS level or even close. They rely on the info given them by others, no info, no ranking or evaluation.

Wouldn't mind seeing him show up a a PWO. Grades are good enough that he could probably get an academic schollie. Doesn't have the athletic ability to be a star but could develop into a contributor.

Was CU offering this kid? We need TEs desperately. He looks like a player, don't get AFA (but good for them) unless it was to play LB
