sure, he's totally effing insane. sure, he's had some serious gameday gaffes and he's not always PC, but les miles WINS.

some folks will say anyone can win at lsu but that isn't true. lots of folks have failed there, just like anywhere else.

i think a hardnosed, old-school philosophy can DOMINATE the pac12. look at harbaugh and he's doing it at stanford, which, last i checked, is a tough place to get guys in. :smile2:

miles can recruit. miles is a leader. miles is proven. miles is a huge name.

it may not happen, but it definitely wouldn't suck if it did happen.

look at the p12 south. arizona is in the tank. asu is one more denny DUI from rebuilding. usc will be in the tank for at least 2-3 more seasons as those recruiting hits kick their pipeline into shreds. utah is going to be dealing with a big league schedule for the first time. and ucla has skippy and they lack the will to win. i just wish we were in better shape as a program. the door is open.

unfortunately, i think it will take us a few years to get back on our feet, but miles wouldn't be crazy to believe there is a golden opportunity for our Buffs in the near to medium term.

i believe.

GO BUFFS! :woot:

I respectfully disagree for reasons that I have stated in the past. He'd be at best a 7-8 win coach here... sounds nice right now, but after a few years it'd get old. And recruiting at CU is not similar to recruiting at LSU.

i think the prospect of a huge name, national championship-winning, 10 games a year guy here would be awesome. i think he could do very well. but, opinions are like, well, you know...

if not him, then EB or Mac.

Lets make this happen! I'm going to write up another death threat.

I kind of agree with this to an extent. I think he would have a few 10 win season but the norm would be 8-4 type of year which isn't bad.

And Liver are we sure CU wants to win?

nope, jimbo, i am not sure we have the will to win either. this hiring process may prove to be illuminating in that regard.

i have hope.

I don't understand why people are so nearsighted on this. 7-8 win seasons, in the short-term, get people excited. They donate more, come to more games. A big name coach and more wins lead to more televised games. More money and exposure affords you better coaches, facilities, recruits and exposure. It's all connected.

Big name hires excite people. Does Troy Calhoun excite people? Do Brian Cabral excite people? No. Les Miles=excitement, whether he is a good coach or not. (For the record, he is not my first choice, however, he is a candidate that I would be thrilled to have as CU's next HC)

I would Buffgasm if he ends up in our Coachmas stocking. Basically zero chance. But hey 'tis the season.

His time at Okie St is a really bad comparison. That MNC ring buys him credibility on the recruiting trail, and for getting players to buy into what he wants them to do on the field. He could win 4-5 games next year and probably still pull a top 25 class. MNC >100 unicorns.

Seriously. Miles is a best possible scenario for us. Please god make it happen

He was winning 7/8 games at OSU when it was impossible to win there. A broke athletic department at a school in the middle of nowhere, with no real tradition (Barry Sanders aside) living in the shadow of OU. And that was before he was a real name in the college football landscape.

At CU, he'd be recruiting So. Cal athletes to Boulder as a recognized name. I'd say he's better than seven or eight games at CU. Just my opinion, man.

As long as Miles or EB are our top choices, I think CU is in good hands. Both will bring some great stuff to the program. We're lucky we've had such a storied past.

I saw Les grabbing a couple late-night slices at Abo's on the Hill last night.

Les ain't happening. move on.

Who ever CU decides to hire, they better have their s*** together and be able to hit the ground running for recruiting purposes.

According to Ringo, candidates are being asked to bring a list of assistants they intend to hire or bring with them should they be named as head coach. That would indicate a current or recently fired HC would have a slight advantage as he could just bring his entire staff with him.

If it's EB, Embree or even Cabral, I hope their lists consist of more then just coaches/assistants listed in a CU media guide.

The emphasis on the staff is obviously a direct reaction to what we didn't get from the Hawkins-hire (Peterson). And it is a good strategy.

With EB, I would suspect that Karl Dorrell would be a possible OC and that ain't bad. Not sure if they would consider John Wristen (CSU-Pueblo HC) for Special Teams/Tight Ends (he was at UCLA at the same time), but if Embree is involved that would be overlap. The big ? for EB would be the choice for DC. I wonder about Greg Brown possible being able a top choice for the "CU family crowd".

Absolutely. He won at OSU after Simmons failed and Pickens money had not yet arrived. He can flat out coach. You combine this with the cred he now has from MNC rings and success in SEC and you have a guy who will bring the splash needed for CU from a recruiting standpoint. Other names will have to win with the talent we have or can attract before the vast majority of the 4 stars will give us a sniff.

With all of this being said, I am a realist and do not think Miles is coming here. My xmas list has 10 things on it and items 1-10 all say Les Miles. Come on Santa, deliver!

What you fail to mention that while all ten Christmas wishes say "Les Miles", only one of them actually relates to coaching, you sick ****.
