News on Bieniemy Interview

Got this from a buddy of mine subscribed to rivals.

Kyle Ringo wrote it. But apparently Kyle talked to an anonymus person on the search committee and said that the EB interview was very impressive. I dont know if yall know this but Mike wants every candidate to have a list of their desired staff prepared for the interview. The person on the search committee told Kyle he cant say names, but according to kyle, the staff EB wants to bring here is a championship staff, and kyle thought an immediate turn around or 2 years would get CU competitive again with the staff that EB has in mind.
One thing is apparently it has EVERYONE gone from this staff. Cabral, Ambrose, prince, everybody. the only person maybe still on it is Hagan, and not even as a coach, but as a recruiting coordinator.

So i ask, 1-Who do yall think is on this coveted staff? and 2- How do you feel about cabral and the coaches most people want getting the boot? i dont care about collins, Eric k, riddle and company.

Randy Shannon for DC and someone awesome for OC and he can let go of whoever he wants. I love Cabral, but it's probably a good time to move on, for both parties.

Maybe UNC will wise up and offer Cabral the HC position this time around.

I think it will be a great loss to the heart of the program if he goes.

I would be sad to see Cabral go, but at the same time, I think a clean sweep would be a pretty good idea.

Cabral has been a great Buff for 30+ years, and will always be so.

This was on scout.com, not Rivals. Ringo works for Scout.

He did NOT comment at all on how the interview went. He stated only that Bienemy's staff included no current CU coaches but would interview Hagan. He stated the list of guys was impressive and fans would be happy or something like that.

Of course what is not known is how many of those guys EB could get. It sounds like a bunch of them are NFL guys and getting them to CU for anything less than a pay raise or a promotion is probably unrealistic.

to add to the incessant rumor mongering - someone on Rivals said that EB's second interview did not go as well as expected...just sayin'

I honestly can't say I would be upset if he came in and cleaned house with the exception of Cabral. He deserves to stay and in a capacity larger then an LB coach. I've heard some people say Amborse should stay but honestly he had two NFL caliber DBs and we got shredded almost every game through the air, granted we had some injuries and he is only in his first year. With the exception of Cabral, I don't care who goes, only care who stays.

I like the idea of EB more and more. But he should keep Cabral. I'm not sure there is anyone more qualified than Cabral to be DC, when you factor in all of the intangibles (heart, passion, plus recruiting the Islands)

I'm starting to believe that maybe not keeping Cabral might end up being the best thing for him. I think he is ready to lead his own team, I hope UNC gives him the job.

To address that concern, and this is an important point, one of the reasons our interview process is taking extra time is that we are requiring the candidates to present who their assistant coaches would be. These proposed assistants have to be willing to be contacted and to confirm that they would join the HC on a CU staff. EB presented a list, and those are the people he knows he can get.

That is unfortunate, but I wonder what that actually means. How did it not go so well?

The problem I have with statement like this, is that it doesn't take into account what Coach Cabral wants for himself. I mean, the guy's 54 years old. I'm pretty sure that at this stage in his life, he's figured out what the best all-around thing is for him is. Some people, and I suspect he's one of them, find their place in life, and are perfectly happy being there. Not only that, but if you take them out of that, and promote them/move them to a position of more importance & responsibility, they aren't productive or happy.

I know the man has said he'd love to be the head coach of CU. But seems to me that he's perfectly happy and productive just being the LB coach here. If that's what he wants (or is happy staying as), then who the hell are we to tell him what the best thing for him is?

I don't think a head coach should ever be told who he has to keep or let go. The only way to hold him accountable is to let him choose his own assistants. I'd love to see Cabral stay, and his loyalty to the program will never be questioned, but the new coach should hire whoever he wants (and can afford).

Agree,

I would like to see Cabral stay but only if it is a good fit for him and the new coach. I would hope that the new coach would at least give Cabral an interview but if it isn't a good fit then the new coach should have the final say.

Sounds like they are waiting on Miles and EB impressed the hell out of the search committee. FACT!

I think Dorrell would be on the staff. I wonder about embree....But people all over the NFL love EB, Tomlin, raheem morris, and childress all endorse EB. So im sure he could get some stud coordinators here. Everyones concern about EB was about his experience, but if his staff is this good i dont think it would matter. His recruiting WILL be lights out. you can take that to the bank.

I to was concerned about the money factor. If it is a championship staff, how would we afford that. But EB isnt going to go into the meeting not knowing if they can afford the staff, or begging mike to come up with money for the staff.

Also do yall think we would get more or less donors with an EB higher? I think more. who doesnt love Scooter!?

donations would go up with scooter, recruiting would go up with scooter. My mouth waters at the thought of him bringing in a good staff!

having a top-notch, experienced staff is a must with EB. Seems that's something he recognizes as well. which is a big positive....unlike the previous coach's Big West/WAC learn on the job staff.

And I think some of that might stem from the fact EB has worked for a few different coaching trees.

With recruiting contact starting tomorrow I'd care to guess someone will have to start calling these kids. Cabral and Hagan could get forced on to the new coach like Shawn Watson was forced on Pellini in exchange for keeping the class together. You gotta remember that even if we settle on someone, and there are no rumors to that effect that someone has been settled on, negotiating a contract is the next step and that could take some time. We might not have a coach under contract for another 10 days.
