Husker fans are really following in Pelini's footsteps

Same fans who sent death threats to their former AD, same fans who harrased Niles Paul, same fans who beat up a CU player (Drew Whalroos) in Boulder in 2001 after the 62-36 game, same fans who threw trash on the field against OU a couple years ago, same fans who threw bottles at Drumm in 2002, same fans who wear "Free Lawrence Phillips" shirts.

Stay classy Nebraska! You're reeeeeally good at it!

You forgot the same fans who also sent death threats to their DC back in 2007. What classy people these fuskers are.

I think they're full of it and believe their **** doesn't stink. Given their past behavior with threats, I'm not surprised. From my experience there last weekend, I came away with a few things:
- if you live in Lincoln, you either love or hate the team. There is nothing else there and just about the entire city loves the team (other than the UT fan at the liquor store before the game that wished us luck kicking the nubs ***es
- we got a lot of "thanks for coming out, enjoy your stay". I'd say only 1/2 meant it, the other 1/2 wanted nothing to do with us but were trying to live up to the "classy" reputation
- not all their fans were knowledgeable. I found it funny that I knew more about their team and program than they did. But I do believe in knowing your enemy
- and finally, they will buy you beer, again likely in the effort to live up to the "greatest fans" myth. Heard from other CU fans saying they got beers paid for before the game and our group got a $30 bar tab after the game from a corn fan

It's funny, i have a few buddies that are Fusker fans. I brought this up to them awhile back. Of course their response was "imagine how many threats Cu fans would've called in". Strange, don't you think if any threats would've been sent from Buff fans, they would've been to Hawk? I never did hear of anything similar happening these past 5 seasons.

I called in a thread to Independence College once.

Those bastards still owe me a diploma.

The threats were probably from CU fans posing as NU fans....

Meh, not acceptable, but every fanbase has its jackasses. Just takes a few jackasses to screw it up for you.

During the 1999 game at an Omaha bar I had a bunch of ice thrown at me by a table of drunk punks....then after the game, another table bought me a shot.

not trying to stick up for Nebraska here, but the article says BB recieved 2,000 calls and e-mails many were nasty. Not sure how many were "nasty" or what determines nasty.

The ones saying he will be stabbed or his daughter is missing is over the line.

Yeah, I agree. The rest of them were cool, though.

Yeah, but 2000 death threats is a lot, don't you think?

I really don't think he received 2,000 death threats Wally. Now, he may have received 2,000 nasty e-mails with a few death threats, still not acceptable, but that's still a small percentage of Husker fans. Probably less than 1% of all Husker fans by far. I think we are just like any fanbase............passionate about our team just like anyone else with a few moronic assholes mixed in.

This topic has infiltrated a few Big Ten boards already. Needless to say, the conference isn't thrilled about inheriting Husker fans.

You're right. It's funny when you say it, though.

EDIT: And huskers admitting that they're just like any fan base is all I've ever wanted to hear. But huskers seldom say that, you know.
