New article up on Rivals. Yarbrough sounds fairly high on CU, but definitely wants to take some visits and look around:

Yarbrough, a 2011 prospect, said he is receiving interest from Nebraska, UCLA, Syracuse, Colorado State, Colorado, Kansas State, Utah, Baylor, Oregon and Northwestern. He said most are recruiting him as a linebacker. A few have discussed playing defensive end.

Yarbrough said he attended the Nike Combine at Colorado last summer.

"I know it's growing," Yarbrough said about the Buffaloes program. "And it's pushing forward and the coaches are really warm and they seem like they want to push you forward and make you the best you can be."

Rivals article

*******************

I don't know whether CU is looking LB or DE. But imho his measurables suggest that DE is where he'll have the best chance to excel if he garners BCS-level offers.

According to a poster with solid Grandview ties on the rivals colorado prep board Eddie has offers from CU, CSU, and Arizona

Yarbrough put recruiting on the back burner during his season, but is now ready to take visits. He likes Boise State, Nebraska, and Oregon quite a bit but does not have an offer from them. Also has been told by various schools that he could play MLB, OLB, or DE.

Here is a cool photo from another thread:

Yarbrough actually graded out higher than super-prospect Chris Martin for Grandview last season. He's not the raw athlete Martin is (few are), but he may be a more productive football player.

From Rivals.
"I know the linebackers coach (Brian Cabral) took over as their head coach for the rest of the season," Yarbrough said. "I have trust and faith that CU will make the right decision on who they bring in as their next head coach. Once it is a little more settled up there, I plan to call them and get more detail on that whole situation."

Do we know if he has contacted the new staff, or if the staff has visited with him?

More updates from Rivals.

Yarbrough made a mistake in his recruiting. He told schools (truthfully) that he didn't want to take official visits during the season because he didn't want to lose focus on his current team and miss out on Saturday film. Schools he told that to thought it was a brush off and stopped recruiting him. It's a tough business.

This could work out for CU, though, because the #6 prospect out of Colorado this year only has a Wyoming visit lined up for January and it looks like we can land him as a hybrid DE/OLB.

Here's some ESPN video from his junior year (no senior film available yet, but Adam/Rivals is efforting):

Who are this kids coaches? They obviously are letting this young man down. He's going to get a full ride to a D1 school, and he's telling recruiters he doesn't want to visit because he wants to be at the film studies? I don't blame the assistant coaches for backing off.

IMO, his varsity coaches should've set Eddie straight on this one. Almost cost him a scholarship.

I disagree. I think it shows dedication to his team and wanting to better himself.

No one is saying otherwise, tg. Yarbrough has great character and will be a huge asset to whatever program he ends up at. But it was bad strategy to play his recruiting that way.

You're not seeing what I'm trying to say here. Nobody is questioning his dedication, he's just a kid that doesn't know any better. His coaches however, should know better. They should've pulled him into their offices and let him know how important of an opportunity he was passing up.

What I meant by that is that it shows his future coaches that he's dedicated to his team. I hear what you're saying though.

Really? I don't. It looked like he didn't have any interest in them. It looks like all of the coaches took it that way as well.
Yeah because to me it shows that he wants to be and his team to be the best they can be by studying film during the season. I can see how it can come off as being un-interested though.

Nik or someone else.. Are we still recruiting him? I read on the Rivals message board that the staff stopped recruiting him.

I didn't read that. I saw that CSU stopped and a question about whether CU did.

That said, I can't imagine that Yarbrough is more than a backup plan for Embree at this point.

whether he was taking trips or spending any time on recruiting, really has nothing to do with this. I've been thru the recruiting situation with several kids including my own recently. There is a ton of film available on this kid since he played with one of the top recruits in the country last year. He plays for a big school and he's a known entity.

If he's not getting a lot of interest at this point, it's because of grades, or just the perceived upside here. If CU isn't offering, it's because they don't think he's goood enough. Not because of the way he handled his recruiting.

Any word on Willingham? I know that Kanavis was due to pay him another visit and have a sit down with his family, plus, aTm was on the business end of a beatdown at the Cotton Bowl.

That was pretty funny. Cotton Bowl moved first and invited atm so they would have a big turnout and lots of spenders. Truth be told, the better and more deserving team was Okie lite. I hope Jerry's World and the C-Bowl got their money, since in the end, atm got embarrassed and the bigTex12 got a black eye.

He aint going to Oregon, they already have 7 LBs in their class this year. It'd be nice to get atleast ONE more stud from the state. It doesn't look good when you don't sign players from your home state. Can't say that enough. Oregon State only takes two from their state a year and they get a lot of criticism for it.
