Hagan Recruiting question?

Are there restrictions on Hagan for recruiting, since he is not a coach?
Can he do in home visits?

If Hagan ends up staying on board as Recruiting Coordinator, he won't be able to make in-home visits once we have a full coaching staff. In-homes are reserved for the head coach and the 9 assistant coaches. No one else (GAs, Interns, Administrators, QC coaches) can make in-home recruiting visits.

What does a recruiting coordinator actually do? Did we have one when Hawk was here? It's a job I hear about, but I don't have the slightest idea what said person actually does. My assumption would be that he is like a defacto scouting director.

"Scouting Director" is a great comparison. My understanding is that a Recruiting Coordinator sets up the board, manages a lot of the logistics (such as on campus visits), makes a lot of the phone calls, and also manages a lot of the recruiting mail initiatives (coach really doesn't have time to do this that well since it includes identifying and then getting stuff out to freshmen and sophomores).

It would be a huge benefit to the program if Hagan formally accepts the position.

Kent Riddle was Hawkins' Recruiting Coordinator. I can't remember who Barnett's recruiting Coordinator, i think it was Wristen. Bob Hauck was Neuheisel's.

Back when staffs were unlimited, Notre Dame had Vinny Cerrato as their R.C., and he basically functioned as a GM. Their recruiting really fell off a cliff after he left.

Also reviews the thousands of highlight tapes to see if there is anything worth passing on to position coaches. There are usually a number of people who do this, but the RC is one of the main ones.

I think Hagan was Barney's recruiting coordinator toward the end.

I thought Hawkins recruiting coordinator was Robert Tucker or Mark Nolan? Before they both left, anyway.

Right you are, my mistake. Although our recruiting the last couple of years certainly smacks of Riddle-osity.
