Watching the B10 sh*t the bed yesterday got me to thinking

That maybe the Nubs will do better in that conference than we all think they will. I didn't see a solid performance from a single B10 team. Not one. Wisconsin should have just methodically crammed the ball down TCU's throat all game long, but they got away from that. Michigan State looked flat out awful, and I don't even want to talk about Michigan. PSU was OK against a team that was middle of the road in the SEC, but they still got their teeth kicked in.

NU might win that conference next year. Seriously, the rest of the B10 sucks balls.

Another reason to be thankful the buckeyes lost so we didnt have to see them in the championship game this year.

Buckeyes are far and away the best B10 team imo. Michigan State was a hoax at best and Michigan is just terrible these days. Wisconsin isn't a bad team, but they certainly didn't look very good vs TCU. Iowa and Penn State are solid teams that rely heavily on their home field advantage during the season.

Either way, Nebraska lost to a Washington team that was far worse than any of the teams the B10 teams lost to.

That's a good point. It's not like the B10 was playing a bunch of nobodys yesterday. TCU, Florida, MSU, and Alabama are all solid programs. Playing Tech in Texas is hard, too.

I noticed the Big Ten sucked big time. No way will NU win the Conference next year. They will show well, but not win it.

Wisconsin got to wrapped up in trying to prove that they were a diversified offense. If they had simply run the ball play after play between the tackles TCU had no answer. The game would have be over in the third quarter. By trying to run wide and pass the ball they played into TCUs hands, and got beat because of it.

The Big X games against the SEC teams just showed what happens when you have better athletes, no big surprise. Michigan was a bad team this year and showed it.

The nubs should fit right into this bunch, getting beat solidly by a Washington team that the beat easily earlier in the year.

I dunno on the Wiscy game. In the 2nd quarter, the frogs made some adjustments - began crowding the los and sending backers in behind the pulling ol. They committed to shutting down the interior run game and dared Wiscy to throw the rock, or to run wide where TCU's speed came into play. Heck of an adjustment.

That said, I agree that the beaTen laid an (another) egg this bowl season. I guess the nubbies will fall in line with the rest of the Depends/Bleeders; look great during the season and shat a brick in the post season. It's the MO of the conference.

Nebraska should have beaten Washington but its tough to get up for a meaningless bowl game when you already beaten the team you played earlier in the season by a huge margin.

If that was a playoff game with the the chance for the national title, Nebraska would have blown out Washington.

that is why you push it right up the gut. They are undersized but very fast, so you don't try to beat them to the edge. It is the same problem that CU has had for years, if you have road graders you use them.

on another note, Nebraska got killed in their bowl game so they will fit right in with the Big 10.

Really? You are all going to evaluate teams based on Bowl games? Was anyone at the '02 Fiesta Bowl where Colorado played Oregon? Are any of you aware that some of the players didn't care about the game, just about having a good time. The proof I offer is that atleast 2 prominent CU players were hanging out on Mill Avenue after midnight.... I saw them.

Your opinion of Michigan State is offbase. I have close friends that go there and the father is a supporter.... Michigan State was so angry that they didnt get the BCS bid that they just went and didnt care....

Miami didnt want ANY part of being in El Paso.... even to renew the Catholics v. Convicts "rivalry."

Bowl games are a toss-up if teams come to play.

Only 1 game really means something and even that game can be a farce for 2 reasons:

a) the wrong team got in
b) there is such a long layoff, a team is not prepared....

Philly's right, you never know which teams are motivated and which ones aren't in these bowl games. Miami didn't look like they wanted to be in El Paso and once they finally got their head somewhat in the game, it was too late. Off the top of my head I recall instances like Air Force beating Ohio State in a minor bowl. No, it wasn't like the Ohio State teams under Tressel, but it was still a team that should've rolled AF. Or that KjSU team what was a sliver from playing for the national title but lost to A&M in OT, then they pouted because they got sent to the Alamo Bowl and ended up losing to Purdue or whoever it was.

It's just hard to know what kind of effort to expect from teams in bowl games.

I think it goes back to the old adage of speed kills. TCU had a smaller defense but the players were faster. Certainly Wisconsin opened some huge holes and ran the ball nicely at times. But they also got stuffed a few times too. There team was built too much for the run and it broke down on them. Hats off to TCU for getting the win.

Rematches in the same season are never good. Nebraska got spanked in that game. I think what happened to UDub was the players were so used to losing that they just didn't buy into each other until mid year. The UDub defense I saw looked pretty stout against NU. Tmart was hurt and NU is not built to pass so those are factors as well.

I know there are a lot of factors that go into why one team beats another team in a bowl game. Still, the Big 10 went 0-5 on NYD. That's atrocious. There's more to it than motivation.

I don't think TCU had an answer for Wicsonsin's running game, personally. It was working all game long, right up until the very end. They scored from five yards out on a run right up the middle. Then got stupid and decided to pass when they were going for two. TCU was gassed. They had been pushed around all game long. Wisconsin was dumb, dumb, dumb. When you have a physical mismatch like that, you exploit it. They got too fancy. Trying to run to the edges, trying to pass the ball. Stupid.

You are correct about Wisconsin. They tried to prove they were balanced. The passing game that often worked during the season wasn't working against TCU. John Clay was healthy and they only gave him 11 carries. He gained 76 yards with those 11 carries. They could have pounded it, but didn't. Their 2 point play at the end was a head scratcher. They could have run Clay behind a blocking back and a pulling lineman or two for 3 yards and if TCU stopped it, then Wisconsin could congratulate them for stopping what they do best. The shotgun pass over the middle made no sense. Their kicker also missed an easy one. We've heard that before. Their coaches seemed to blow it with sticking to a game plan that wasn't working. We've heard that before, too.

The B10 is seriously ridiculously overrated, though. The fact that they have 5 NYD games is a travesty.

Michigan State, trying or not, didn't look like a team that should even be on a field with Alabama.

Michigan is crap and not going to recover anytime soon since Rich Rod has been bringing in players for his offense. I wonder if Harbaugh even wants this job? He will get a year of grace period at most and then be expected to run a pro style offense with Denard Robison, good luck on that one. Their entire defense is just awful. Hell their kicker even sucks.

Agreed on Mich. IMO, they messed up big time bringing in RR. UM has always run a traditional, run the ball, play defense play action type game with usually superior athletes. RR's spread option concepts, and more importantly, the recruiting of those kind of athletes, will set UM back for some time.

I'd be surprised if we won the division next year................without changes on offense I just don't see it coming.

Why are we so obsessed with the BIg 10/11/12?

Yes they had a ****ty bowl record this year, but Nebraska will still suck balls in it. Two teams that the skers willl struggle with for sure is Wisconsin and Ohio state.

You guys need an identity on offense, something both NU and CU have lacked for a long time.

Oh no! We like to change it every 2 years or so.............it's pretty f-ing annoying. You're right though we can't seem to stick with an offense right now.

Cal in the Holiday Bowl a few years ago, was the best example I can think of.

That's twice as long as we've stuck with an offense the last, oh, five years or so.... :pissed:
