beware the habu
from the daily rag down here in the land of swirling wind -- Okie lite traveled today for their Saturday game against CU. They obviously want to get "acclimatized".

Of course, (since they just got back from College Station) missing almost the entire week of classes isn't a big deal for student/athletes.

they DO go to okie lite... really not losing much.

Big mistake by the Cowpokes.

Studies the NFL uses have shown that your body deals well with altitude for about the first 24-48 hours, but then the oxygen depletion sets in and it takes a couple weeks to get acclimated. Basically, you're much better off coming in the day before the game than you are coming in a day early.

Oxygen? What is this "oxygen" you speak of?

Not what I expected from you. I expected something like, "I've been here for over 30 years and I'm still not acclimated. My body hurts, and I'm dizzy all the time."

Oxygen is this cool stuff that you get at sea level. One of the big benefits is you can drink 3 times more alcohol using this oxygen stuff without feeling drunk or getting hung over.

good fix.

Whenever the band goes on the road, this results in having to spend way too much per diem on booze. At the Big 12 tournament in KC last year we all got multiple buckets of booze at this piano bar and barely ended up buzzed. I remember this other time at the Independence Bowl when a couple of my freshman tubas polished off a 30 rack between them in a couple hours and didn't even feel it. Altitude and booze can combine to do some strange things...

More news from down south......

CU got a lot of good air by the radio talking heads today. The cast consisted of Jim Trabor (former Okie liter and MLB player) as host, Al Eschbeck (sp?) (who I think was mummified 4 centuries ago), and Barry Tramel (local print media hack).

All were extremely impressed with CU's win in the little apple. Tramel commented that before the season, the cowboy faithful looked at the game in Boulder as a "likely win", but now the attitude is that they'd be very happy to steal one on the road. All 3 thought this game was huge for both programs, and that it basically could be considered a play-in for the Dance.

The locals are getting a little uneasy when the discussion turns to "the game against CU".

I think the OSU team's going to be cocky. They manhandled us in Stillwater last year. It's going to take more than a couple wins to make Big 12 teams get up for a CU game like they do a matchup with Texas.

Wait, per diem is supposed to buy something besides booze? I used to fill my bags up with food for those Bball trips and spend ALL my per diem on booze. Hopefully at the big 12 tournament this year, the band will get additional envelopes of per diem. Man that was bad ass! Made you feel even better after a CU win.:drink:

Ah the good ol' days. Allow me to just say Ruuuuummmmmm booooowwwwlllll one last time. Thanks

Guys, is this game going to be on TV tomorrow? I didn't see anything on the ESPN website maybe FSN?

It's on the "Big 12 Network", which just means the stations that have clearance to broadcast conference games.

If none of these are in your areas, I believe some of our members know some tricks for streaming an out-of-market station onto your computer.

For the Austin area AllBuffers it will be on KBVODT Channel 1525 on Time Warner Cable. Don't know if there is a KBVO HD feed on AT&T UVerse down here.

Doesn't look like it (KBVO) is part of the basic cable package. Kinda strange our game is on the KBeVO channel.

I don't see it on the Big 12 Basketball affiliate in Houston (Channel 55). They have Tech/KSU and OU/UT on their schedule. Bummer!

Here is their future schedules -> http://www.houstons55.com/basketball-schedules/ Four more games televised including the home game with KU.

Looks like your 55 is like our channel 12 on the basic package. That's the channel carrying the Tech/KSU game. If you have the HD cable package, check there maybe there'll be a station like BeVO that carries it.

You going to go to the Baylor game? I'll be getting my tix tonight/tomorrow. Taking the twins.

Thinking about it, although it's a 4 hour drive from here. Plus it's on tv. Are you getting your tickets through CU?

It is also on espn3.com It should be blacked out in areas that get it on tv. But for those that don't get it on tv you should be able to stream on espn3.

Which also means you can watch it on xbox.

Researching, it looks like I'll have to go through Baylor for them which has me a little worried - be nice if there was a small visitor section like with football games. Tix are $18. With a 4hr drive ahead of you, I understand your reluctance to go - only 90 miles for me.
