Peat is #1 on my wish list of all the guys we are known to have offered.

Scout had a new article today:

Apparently the CU staff mailed an official offer to Peat some time ago but Todd never received it. He explains, "Coach Brandeson was at my school recently and I called and taled to him and he asked if I had ever gotten the offer letter they sent out awhile ago."

************

As I said on the Scout board, let's hope that the snafu with the mail somehow makes us stand out.

Also, it looks like Bandison and Cabral are both involved in Peat's recruiting. Rivals has Cabral as the lead recruiter but the Scout article specifically quotes him talking about Bandison. (btw, always a good sign when the prospect knows the name of the coach.)

Here is a video of the 1at Team All-State and 2-year All-Region performer that made me go :wow: --

this dude is a 15 yard penalty waiting to happen! He likes to hit Qbs. A lot.

Would take a major upset to pull him away from Stanford. Great prospect though.

Stanford is the leader, but Peat had some nice things to say about CU:

What are his impressions of the Buffaloes?

"I really like the defensive line coach at Colorado, coach [Romeo] Bandison. I have had a couple good conversations with him," Peat responded. "I also like that Colorado has a good reputation for playing freshmen. That is definitely something that impresses me about them because that is going to be a big factor for me. I want to go somewhere where I can play early and make an immediate impact."

Set up his first visit... Nebraska. They're looking strong for him.

According to ESPN, Peat has the following list for his visits: Arizona State, Stanford, Oregon State, Wake Forest, Nebraska and Miami-FL.

Maybe our new coach can impact that.

We need a coach soon to start making inroads. Klatt says it has to be no later than 12/1. The problem is that only McCartney woudl be by 12/1. All the other coaches are college or nfl and should be coaching well after 12/1.

12/1 is a red herring.

Much more important to hire the best coach... even if he can't start until January.

Interesting news from ESPN's Greg Biggins west recruiting blog this morning:

"I have Oregon State set for Jan. 14," Peat said. "I may also visit Stanford and if I take a fifth, it will be to Colorado. Mike Tuiasosopo, who was the DL coach at Arizona, is at Colorado now and they're recruiting me pretty hard and want me to visit so I may do that."

Seems like ASU and Stanford are in the lead. Nebraska (which he visited) has fallen off. Oregon State doesn't sound like it has much of a shot.

As we always say, if we can just get the guy to Boulder to see this place, we've got a shot.

That would be a hellluva recruiting coup. I hope the staff can pull this off, as he would look great in Black and Gold.

The staff needs to be working on other DT prospects because this is the longest of longshots IMO. There is some talk out there that he has been very close to committing to ASU for a while now.

Hope we get a shot though. If nothing else, making inroads in the Phoenix area never hurts.

True - but get on him on campus for a visit, and you don't know what will happen

Peat did not announce this weekend, so he's still open and considering. He visits Oregon State this coming weekend (1/14) and there is still hope of a CU visit one of the two following weekends.

We need to bring out a really nice unicorn, folks. We're in it for Peat.

After delaying his original plan of announcing at last week's U.S. Army All-American Bowl game, four-star defensive tackle Todd Peat Jr. will be on his third official visit this weekend at Oregon State.

The 6-3, 300-pound Rivals250 selection will return home where things will get even more hectic. Several schools will likely make in-home and in-school visits with Peat starting on Monday.

"Actually, I think I have three [schools] by on Monday," Peat said about coaches set to visit him. "Colorado, Oregon State, and possibly ASU."

-and-

There could be another official visit after this weekend as well.

"Probably Colorado," Peat said about what would be his fourth official visit of the fall. "The weekend after that. They've shown a lot of love since (Mike Tuiasosopo) has been there. It's been since the end of my sophomore year, so I've had my offer from Colorado for a while."

Peat's OV List:

Arizona State: November 12
Nebraska: November 26 (saw how he'd get early playing time at CU)
Oregon State: January 14

Will it be Colorado on January 21?

Sweeet. Along with Lelion, this would one huge get. Acknowledging that it's a long shot, color me impressed if Tui gets this one.

Umm... paging Psycho.
