Miles to sign 7 year contract extension for $3.75 million a year

His contract, as I understood it, was already guaranteed for 5 years and auto-renewed every year that he won 8 games or more. Buyout was capped at somewhere north of $18 million if he were fired. I wonder what this gets him? Maybe up the buyout and guarantee for 7 years with 8 wins or more?

There are new performance clauses - I'm sure if he keeps winning like he has in the past he will make well over $4 million a year. He's probably making over $4 right now.

Guess that trip to Michigan got him what he wanted after all.

Didn't they actually meet in Dallas?

Les is good coach. He's a little nutty but he wins a lot of games. Had one bad year in 2009 and rebounded this year although lost the Arkansas game which is disappointing.

Miles and Chavis had a brain lock on the touchdown pass with a few seconds left in the 1st half of the Arky game. Why they didn't pull all their DB's back about 40 yards with just a few seconds left is still the $60,000 question in Baton Rouge. He's a good coach, but he sometimes has brain farts - Ole Miss 2009, and Tenn last year. He was 9 -4 in 2009 - his worst year at LSU. Would have been 10 - 3 if it wasn't for that mud pit they played the Capitol One bowl in.
Completely negated their team speed. I'm glad he's staying in Baton Rouge. I don't know
where he met with Michigan, probably was in Dallas or Baton Rouge, only that they offered him a ton of money, and he turned them down.

Won't happen, they would have to pay him more than $15 million to do it. They are married now for better or worse.

What a shame too. How could that give that squib an extension? All those 9+ win seasons are really taking their toll. Afterall, it's a dumb idea to retain the winningest coach in school history. Sheesh.

He just got rid of his OC Gary Crowton. Didn't fire him - he was forced to take another job, will be OC at Maryland. Guy is another " Short Bus" Watson. Something he should have done last year. If he can get the offense cranking
he could easily have more 11 win seasons.
