Thanks for any info.

The list is inaccurate. For example, I know several Pac 12 schools are pursuing Puka Lopa and Christian Heyward. That is, they have offers.

The rest I don't know about, but remember the kid has to qualify which may explain a few of them without offers.

Seau seems like a plan B guy.

Um, the 'no offers" means NO OFFER from CU.

Not to be too picky but it really means no reported offer from CU. While it might be true for many of these guys that they don't have an offer from CU, use interweb geeks only have the information that the reporting sites get and I don't believe that it's accurate. I guess I just don't want to start off a new coaching regime by bashing about recruiting. It's a very short cycle.

I definitely want to see some top quality DL guys at CU. Suh and Fairley showed how much of a difference a dominant DT can make.

Good effing grief, CSU gets 3 star dt Isiah Norton out of texas. Hey tui and mcghee, let's get going.Really, 8 texas recruits for csu?

Why csu gets this kid and our two DL recruiters don't even offer him is puzzling. CSU sucks ass.

Let's just say there have been several rumblings on various Big 12 boards about Norton. Not the good kind of rumblings either.

I'm surprised we haven't made a play for Heyward. I'd have thought he would be one of the first calls.

I'm with Nik though, really hope we are making overtures to Christian Heyward. May be a tough sell right now, but it is worth the shot.

CSU would have to step up their game before they would be good enough to say they suck ass.....

And how do you know he's not?

How do you know he is?

Nobody has heard anything except for peat jr visiting, maybe he's all over them but you'd think we would hear about it as far as a visit or something.

We'll see.....

I have no clue but considering the coaches we have for the DL, I can't imagine they aren't trying to pull kids to Boulder. Of course, teenagers have a way of not doing what you'd like them to do.

I hear this year after year. No more, People shout me down when I bring up DT/DL recruiting then complain when our undersized dl is getting pushed around and getting no pass rush during the season. I understand recruits will go where they want but, it's time CU starts recruiting DL classes like CAL is this year.

My concern is, CU has 5 DT's and 3 of them will be seniors. We can't go into the 2012 season with 2 starters with experience and 3-4 freshman back ups.

Why CU seems to have more of a problem than most schools getting Quality dt's is puzzling.

This staff has been in place for about a month and a half. Actually, the head coach has been here a month and a half, and the rest of the staff has been hired/showed up from their previous jobs between then and now. What happened prior to now is of zero_zilch_no consequence whatsoever. So complaining about what happened in previous years is ridiculous. The guys who are here now are winners, great recruiters, and are doing a heck of a job making up for lost time.

I don't think anyone is complaining about the efforts of this staff's recruiting. Just a general sentiment that we seem to always be on the outside looking in when it comes to studs on the DL.

My posts are for the DL nothing else.

I agree with your demand that the DL get more emphasis, but we have 6 DT's on the roster:

Cunningham, Obi, and Goree are the Seniors
Pericak will be a RS-Junior
Bonsu will be a RS-Sophomore
Poston will be a RS-Freshman

Hopefully Bonsu recovers well and Poston can get some good reps and bulk up over this next year or so, because we will really need him to step up in 2012.

Norton is a high risk qualifier at this point. He's not visited anywhere, including CSU. They have a pretty lenient admissions policy situation right now. And yes, I have first hand knowledge of this situation. Much more so than I do of CU's. CSU did get a RB last year from Texas who NOBODY thought would get in. He did, somehow.

Heyward is visiting Oregon (thee of the National Championship game) and 4 schools within 5 hours drive of his home.

Again, I agree with most of what you say. Getting some solid DT's to Boulder should be a priority of the coaching staff. What I have trouble with is that you often seem to suggest that they aren't trying or simply don't know what they are doing. I believe that Tui and McGhee want to get a solid DL and probably know what they are doing.

I know, so you think cu will be okay going into the 2012 season with 2 experienced dt's and poston? CU is goin to have to sign 4-5 DT'S within the next 2 classes.

How desperate we are for DTs depends a bit on whether Kasa moves inside, but it's definitely a recruiting point of emphasis for 2012. We graduate 3 of them.

I love Pericak and Bonsu in a DT rotation. I don't know much about Poston except that he's got a good burst and did the work in training to get himself up over 290 pounds while redshirting. I have no idea whether Dakota Poole will ever develop.

I'd really love to see 1 DT in the 2011 class that we can forecast into the rotation in the 2012 season. And we need 2 guys in that 2012 class.

Definitely not. (was just pointing out the "6" instead of the "5")

I am 100% in the camp of "depth and quality" at DL, especially DT. Over the last year or two I have been in full support of getting more recruits at that position. We didn't even recruit any beefy fullbacks that we could convert into DT's! haha

Nik's comment about Poston already tipping 290 is awesome and very encouraging, but he hasn't played a snap at the position yet and with Goree and Obi on the roster this year it is unlikely he will get much PT at all in 2011. Can we RS Obi or Goree in 2011 so that we have another returning Senior in 2012?

Bonsu had a great 2009 coming out party when we really needed someone to step up, but his serious injury is going to be a concern going forward.

I'd much prefer we didn't have to "start over" with underclassmen starting at DT (like we did with Pericak/Cunningham). Kudos to those guys for stepping up, but it wasn't an ideal situation for the team at the time.

Kasa and Poole are the x factors at the DT position, as they could add that extra depth and experience (Kasa) if they play that position; but then the problem of depth and experience shifts to DE with West and Uzo-Diribe being the only other guys on the current roster in 2012.

I like Kasa and Poole to stay at DE, as their height become much better utilized on the edge. I would expect some of the crop of OLB can be converted to DE, like Lowell Williams and/or Liloa Nobriga but that depends on the coaches and their scheme.

I'd like to see 2 this class and 2-3 in the 2012 class. This is a position that has been neglected and I think embree, tui and mcghee will change that.
