Brent Burnette

RK

UBL
Sources from inside of practice say he has a CANNON and is extremely accurate. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up starting

Whether Burnette or Hansen starts, at least we finally know the best QB will be on the field. First time in 4 years we've been able to say that with certainty.

Hold the presses...Burnette is QB coach Scherer's nephew...

j/k:smile2:

Has anyone ever considered that Cody was a good QB hampered like the rest by his imbecile of a father?

No. Cody had far too many limitations to be an effective starter after that 2007 season. He was easy to defend.

Negative, Ghostrider.

Cody peaked as a freshman, likely as a result of having a coach as a father - he knew the game far better than most at an early age. He had no upside and was limited not by his knowledge of the game, but by physical limitations (size, speed, arm strength).

Yes. But then I watched him retreat 30 yards into KU's end zone and the thought whisped away....

I have to remain skeptical on both of our QB recruits this year because they had no other offers, but I hope everyone just missed on them for whatever reason. I mean, this guy is a good student, has a cannon that is accurate, lights up the JC ranks, and nobody except us recruits him? Awesome I guess!

If Burnette is our starter, we have problems. Hansen and Hirschman, by virtue of being here for a while, should be light years ahead of either of the incoming guys. I really get the sense that Burnette was brought in for depth and to seal a gap in recruiting classes.

New offense, new system. I'd say they're all starting from the same place, at least in terms of the playbook.

I think Hansen has the edge going into the spring due to his starting experience at the BCS level, but you make a good point. All three will get a legit shot at the starting gig.

Two different systems though, the only thing they bring is D1 expierence, which is big I guess but not as big as being able to understand the new system.

yeah, but I guarantee you that Hansen and Hirschman know where guys like Clemons and Richardson are going to be at any given time on the field a whole lot better than Burnette does.

Burnette has played D-1 ball on a winning team. Hirschman has no experience at all. I'd say TH is the leader going in....but sounds like Burnette does what the coaches want to do. I like the Burnette pickup. Wouldn't be surprised to see him push TH. Now, it may be the case that both are middling BCS level QB's but someone has to start. one may step up in the new system and elevate the team. But, we don't know if Burnette is Nick Nelson or Josh Heupel....or someone like Pesavento who was good enough to do what needed to be done.

My gut tells me this kid is more like Moschetti than Pesavento... which I'd take any day
