Possible to finish 4th?

I was just looking at the games left. If we find a way to win out, I think that K-state and Mizz have a decent chance of losing 1 more each. That would put us in a tie. We own the tiebreaker against K-state but what about Mizz? Would be amazing if it really worked out that way. We need Baylor to lose to A and M so they don't screw up my scenario. If anyone knows how the tiebreaker with Mizzou works, let me know.

We don't want to finish 4th. We want the 5th seed. It gets us an extra game. I know that sounds weird, but it's the troof.

Texas is going to come after K-state with a vengeance after these last two weeks of away loses. Definitely a possibility for K-state to loose that one.
Mizzou losing to Kansas- I like that chance.

We just have to finish. Can't get complacent against these last two teams. Nebraska is going to try to use their size to abuse us. Iowa State got embarrassed by us (and the rest of the big 12), they will look to turn things around at home.

I just watched the A&M/Baylor game. I STILL can't believe we lost to A&M and pissed that game away @ Baylor. Having those two wins now would be huge!

I think the Buffs need the 5 or 6 seed so they get that extra game to win. 1st step is to forget the win today and take care of business at Ames. Go Buffs!

I want a 5 or 6 so we've got one game in the B12T in which we're favored.

Hopefully a rematch with Iowa State if we beat them. I agree. We need to win out the season and make it to the second round of the Big 12 tourney. It ain't weird at all.

We have to win the next three (Neb, at ISU, Open Rd. BXII Tournament) and then hope we face Texas A&M in Quarterfinals

Guys I'm not sure we want to be a 5 or 6 seed over a 4 seed if we win these next two. I think 20-11 (9-7) would get us in if we were to be the 4 seed and thus face a quality opponent in our first game in the quarterfinals. A win against an OU or TT in the Opening Round as a 5 or 6 seed isn't going to do anything for our RPI (or overall resume), and thus there might be far more risk than reward for playing one of those games. It certainly looks like that will be the case however, we might catch one of KSU/Mizzou as they have some tough games left, but both is unlikely.

To answer his question, yes we could own the tiebreaker over Mizzou. They would have to lose their game at home against Kansas, while we're winning out. We're tied head-to-head, and we would each have a 6-4 in division (Big XII North) record. This would also work if they lost out and we only won one of the next two (5-5 in division records).

It would then go to the second to last tiebreaker which is "If two teams remain tied, there will be a comparison of record against the highest ranked team(s) (based upon Conference winning percentage) in the division and proceeding through in order of divisional record." Since, at that point, Mizzou and CU have both lost to KU twice, the tie breaker would be decided by our records against KSU. We're 2-0 and KSU is 1-1. CU would get the advantage.

But I agree with the sentiment that we might want to play an "easier" team in the first round of the tourney.

this is a good point. Does being one and done as a four seed hurt us more than being number five and losing to #12?

Losing to #12 would be a killer. Losing the 4/5 game as either the 4 or 5 seed wouldn't be great, but it would be a lot better than losing to ISU...
