I'll be there with the band again this year and I thought I'd see if there were going to be any allbuffers around. So, anyone making the trip?

Thinking of gunning it across the plains, but it's hard to do for a Wednesday game. I hate the thought of the Buffs playing one of the biggest games in recent memory against KSU on a "neutral" court Thursday with about 20 Buff fans in attendance. If we make the NCAA tournament I will drive anywhere between the Pacific Ocean and the Mississippi River to see the Buffs in the Dance.

If I had a car, money, wanted to drive across Kansas, and the week off from class...yes I would.

I'm guessing you're a freshman? Those are the big classes dude - skip 'em while you can
Yeah I'm a freshman. I already skip my math class enough because it doesn't have any clicker questions but all my other classes have a big emphasis on those damn things.

**** the clickers. i went to a 1000-level geography class about two times (midterm day according to syllabus) the entire semester then found out clickers were involved. i was done for

Yeah I hate the ****ers. 30% of my grade in my weather class is from those things....

This thread is now about clickers.

Funny how that happens, huh?

That's easy to get around. Just find someone you know in the class and have one person bring the other's clicker every other day. Just trade off and sit in the back so the teacher can't see the 2nd clicker. You just have to be sure that the other person is at least as smart as you are.

Impossible. I feel like I'm smarter than everyone here.

Clickers? Can somebody 'splain?

Basically its a remote with letters on it. Everyone has one registered in their name. Teacher asks a question to the class and the student hits the corsponding letter. It can be used for quizes or as a way for the teacher to gauge how well people are undertsanding whats going on as you can get the instant data from the responses. Their especially usefull in large lecture classes.

Not going, but I really hope you guys get a couple extra envelopes of perdium. It always made me feel like a mafioso

And then about 80% of what's in those envlopes went to help the winning part of "win or lose we :drink:"

teachers now use them to check attendance too.

Who is your weather professor? A major hotty in my Math class my freshman year got caught using two clickers... the teacher was pissed and called her out in front of the entire class

It seemed like every class I had that required clicker usage - the damn things never worked so the profs basically gave up on that part of the course

We're getting $140 and that's supposed to last us from tonight's bus ride through Thursday. If we have another bar night like we did last year though, we'll be lucky if it lasts through Tuesday night...

when did they start using clickers?
I'd never heard of them before this thread. They seem stupid. The point of the class is to learn the material. Why should the prof care if you are sick some day and can't attend?

earlier in the thread someone said, the profs can give instant quizzes and get feedback on how kids are learning the material, so it should improve the ability of the teacher to improve the material.

main purpose of the clickers is to help the professors decide whether or not they need to reteach a certain concept or if most of the class gets it and they can move to the next concept. I think taking an attendance of a huge lecture by clicker and having a grade on attendance is over the line. Its college. If i dont want to go to class then I shouldn't have to.

I actually havent had one class ths year where we have had to use one. I dont think their that common.

I had to use them a ton my freshman/sophomore years, and didn't at all junior/senior. It's a big class thing, but they're definitely pretty popular.

if clickers are used for attendance, they give you like 3-5 freebies.
