I must say this team has a lot of heart. They just looked gassed. But to go down but 18 then to come back within 6 without the help of refs was awesome. I think we could have beaten them if we had more rest but Kansas had a great game after the first 10 minutes.

I proud of you Buffs.

Can we please not do the "refs were against us thing." Other then one bad call when the ball went off a KU player they were very good tonight. Bill Self actually looked much more upset with the officiating then Boyle did.

Well I didn't say the refs were against us. I said we were able to come back without the help of the refs. A lot of times in basketball games the refs call the game tighter for the team that is leading by more than 10. That didn't happen.

They didn't quit, even down by 18 against a traditionally top 10 team.

It wasn't the refs, it wasn't anybody having an off shooting night. The Buffs simply didn't have a match for the size of Kansas, especially the twins. Dufault did better than we had any right to expect him to like he did all season. The problem was with KU having multiple quality bigs in the game at the same time. The Buffs had to adjust down opening up the rest of the KU players.

You can't coach size and inside talent but KU is a bad matchup for what the Buffs have right now. The good thing is that if we see KU again or another team of that level it will mean that we have gotten the NCAA tourney off to a great start.

Watching Boyle and this group of players, I don't think they are going to be one of those teams that is just happy to be in the tourner. I don't think anybody is looking forward to drawing the buffs in the brackets.

Point well taken. We didn't get that "let's keep things interesting for the fans and announcers" bump tonight.

I thought the game was officiated fairly. KU's got a hell of a team, too. The one thing they're missing that they usually have is that big hoss in the middle. But that team is well balanced and can play any style. If they're clicking in the tournament, I'm not sure there's a better team out there.

I agree. I also think the 3 games in a row wore us out a bit. But Kansas was great tonight. We played well but not well enough to take down a top team.

Self really pushed the tempo, which was smart to do against a team that played as intense as we did the first two games. Not taking away from the game and effort ku put out but they got some lucky bounces too, like the loose ball that went right to the ku player..... sitting on the floor.

I think Boyle has worked hard to improve the depth of this team in the future. Depth has killed us all year and still it has been a great season.

It was the most fun B12 tourney EVAR for the Buffs.
Three games in three days with a face off against the number one seed in a not-so-neutral environment proved to be a meat grinder.

It was good to watch the Buffs on a major network during prime time. Between the early lead and the rally at the end, and some great athletic moments coming from Burks and some sick three pointers from Knutson, and those bad-ass black uniforms, the Buffs looked atleast respectable. Higgins was spent and the depth on the bench wasn't there to pitch that elusive upset of #2 Kansas. But there were moments in the game when it seemed possible.

The CU Band gets a nod. It was great to hear the fight song, Crazy Train, Alma Mater, and other signature CU tunes in the background whenever the announcers were yapping during the breaks. What CU lacked in fan numbers, the band made up for in sound and energy.
I won't miss leaving those annoying ChickenHawks fans behind.

All in all, Boyle was largely impressive during his first and last season in the Big 12. I hope Boyle's recruiting turns out to be as solid as those gritty upsets against Mizzou, Texas and K-State (x3). Let's see if he can bring in the next Burks, find some big guys, and build the bench.
