The football writer from the Columbia Daily Tribune (Gray's hometown paper) is reporting the Gray will visit CU sometime this spring.

Gray decided to transfer from Georgia this winter. Because he has already graduated he will be eligible to play in 2011. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

After being beat out by Aaron Murray for the starting QB job last year, UGA moved Gray to WR we he had 9 catches for 105 yards and 1 TD and also returned 12 punts.

One year to play? CU would not be a good fit for him. He should have transferred to whatever school he is considering prior to spring ball.

I dont this would make sense either. It would be a stretch to think that he could beat out a two year starter in Hansen especially since Hansen has a significant head start in learning the offenese and we we dont really need help at WR either.

As I said in the Scout thread where the story broke yesterday, I like him as a WR and punt returner. We need some help and depth there. As a QB, I just don't see it. He didn't show great accuracy in the limited game action he saw at QB while at Georgia.

Would seem to be a strange move for him to use his final year of eligibility to be a backup QB here instead of there. Why transfer if that's the deal?

????? PRich and Clemons are good, but who is there after that? Will Jefferson is a nice player but from there on you have role fillers, don't get me wrong, I'm gald they are here, just not the kind of players DC's stay up at night worrying about. Maybe another 6'+ guy with speed wouldn't be such a bad thing at WR....

He would most likely be 4th or 5th on the WR depth chart here which is exactly where he was at UGA. In that case why transfer at all. I dont think he is all that much better then Cefalo or Espinoza or Darden or Cantey or Spruce.

I'll venture a guess and say the coaching staff's plan for him would be to give him a look at QB and try to catch lightning in a bottle and if that doesent work play him WR.

Call me crazy, but if I'm the CU coaches, I don't give him any shot at QB at all. There's only so many reps to go around, and we need those for guys that we know have a chance of playing in a real game. Plus, bringing in a guy like that at QB sends the wrong message to the QBs we already have on the roster.

The kid might have some talent, but I think we're better off letting him look elsewhere.

Considering it is UGA, he might be quietly asked to move on down the road, now that he has his degree and isn't going to be a contribuor, to make room for an incoming frosh....

Whether he is as good as the other WR's you mention, I really have no idea, except he is significantly taller than those you mention excepting Darden, who has never seen the field to my knowledge, and Spruce who will be a true frosh. If there is room on the roster, I don't see a downside. I would guess the average UGA player is as good or better than the average CU player. A general rule with exceptions of course, and CU did beat UGA last year, but probably not a bad bet...

If there's an open scholarship, I'd prefer the coaches reward a quality walk-on senior with the scholarship. Maybe it's a sign the coaches really don't like the depth behind Hansen.

New Scout article:

* Graduates in May
* CU recruiting as WR
* CU biggest program interested (looks good for us)

We could really use the WR depth this season. With a schedule that has us playing 13 straight weeks, guys will get dinged up. We need to have a 2nd string we can win with this year.

Decent size, good speed and agility, good hands. Sees the game from a quarterback's perspective. Gray will definitely help us win football games in 2011 if we can make this happen.

Are we really in the position to be telling any QB's no at the moment? Why not give the kid a shot? It isn't like Hansen has been blowing everyone's socks off with his QB play.

Both qb and wr are scary thin after our starters. Bring him in! Wr especially, right now we are completely dependent on a frosh being ready to play.

Also, Gray's got a younger brother who is a freshman at CU. We've got a really good chance here to add some WR depth for the season.

This guy is waaaay better than our current 4th/5th/6th options.

Shut your dirty whore mouth.

Another option at WR as a short-term fix actually seems to be the best fit for us right now. We need bodies there that can step in and play immediately. I like Nelson Spruce a lot, but I do not want to be counting on him to play from day one.

:stupid:

A lot of Buff fans seem to forget that as much as we love Richardson he wasn't comfortable in the offense and making plays until the last half of the season as a freshman.

Great new Rivals article on Gray's upcoming visit to Boulder:

"I am just waiting to check everything out at Colorado and meet their new coaches and see exactly what they have to offer. … I would say Colorado is the front runner so far.

Things are looking good, folks.

13 games and no depth spells danger. Cefalo is our #4 guy right now.

I've got some Bulldog friends who are very high on this kid. They rave about his speed and overall athletic ability. Probably is our #1 return guy from day 1 as well.

In talking with them I got the feeling he will compete for a starting job here. He'll put some pressure on TClem for sure.
