ESPN article on Buffs NIT run

Javon Coney, a 6-foot-3 senior for the Buffs, never got the opportunity to play in the NCAA tournament.

At this stage, two games away from an NIT championship, Coney still can't escape the fact that his one shining moment won't be sung by Luther Vandross or Jennifer Hudson. He might get the Rebecca Black version.

 :lol3: :lol2:

great article, thanks for posting. I hope that the buffs play a great game tomorrow night.

Great article.

I disagree with Scoop on a number of things, but he is a damn good writer and I always enjoy his work even if my opinion differs from his.

Scoop needs to do a little more research:

"The commitment? To be one of the two teams in Division I men's basketball to be able to say they won the last game of their season."

Yes I know they are even more meaningless than the NIT, but the CBI and CIT winners can also make that claim...so I count 4 schools that will end the season on a winning note...

Agreed.
He also seems to think that Coney is our most valuable and snubbed senior...

There are probably also a few teams in leagues without conference tourneys that can say the same thing, too...

Cool to see Coney get some national media attention, though. He's been a nice role player for us this year and given some good minutes.

I'd assume that Scoop Jackson chose Marcus and Javon for the article since he is the main guy for ESPN Chicago and they're both from there.
