We can all blame Tad for not drawing up something better...

But man, you gotta knock that shot down! Practically uncontested from the top of the key. If you told me that we would have our superstar get an open look before the play i would have taken it.

Yeah, but our superstar has a very average jumper, especially from the perimeter. If that's the kind of shot we get at the buzzer I want Higgins taking it right now. If Burks develops that part of his game he's gonna make a lot of green at the next level.

I would take levi but an nba prospect has got to knock that down. Kemba walker hits that down 9 out of 10 times

I dont blame Tad for the play he drew up, but I blame him for calling a timeout which basically killed any chance we had of getting a good look. Im mostly upset with Burks for wasting so much time. There was 15 seconds left when Alabama scored. Thats an eternity in baketball and the quality of shot we got was one you would expect if ther had been 4 seconds left. And as scotch writes Burks taking a long jump shot is not exactly ideal, superstar or not.

I didn't like the timeout.

I'm a bit upset with the possession call when Alabama missed the jumper inside 20 seconds. That should have been CU ball. Refs missed that one.

Far from wide open and not an easy shot

No he was wide open. He fired up a pump fake, the defender went for it and went jumping past Levi who then stepped forward, set his feet, and hit nothing but air. And no it wasint a long one either. The one difficult thing was that he had to beat the clock.

This is what i am talking about he didnt get to shoot his normal stroke and there was traffic around him, Alec's shot was much easier.

yall gotta watch that shot again. alec had a good look. like UBL said, if i was told alec open for a 16 footer at the buzzer i would take it too.
i have no problem with the decision made...

that said i would still prefer that he but the ball on the ground and get to the rim. do what makes alec so great. get to the line... dish.. or score.

non the less i will take alec open from 16.

future is bright buff fans! in football and bball!!!

He had a good look but I can think of several options better then having a 28% 3 point shooter who was 1/5 on threes that game shoot a 3 pointer. Watch a replay it was a 3 not a 16 footer. It was all he had but thats only because he wasted so much damn time.

And as far as blaming Tad I just noticed that Relphorde ran around and then went and set a screen for Burks well away from the basket with only 4 seconds left. This had to be part of "the play" so maybe Burks taking a pull up jumper was what Tad wanted.

Personally I don't have a problem with the play at all. Maybe the one thing I think could have been better would be if they started going 2 or 3 sec earlier and get a chance at a tip in. We got one of our best players a good screen and a 16 foot jumper. He makes it and everyone calls him a hero and doesn't question the timeout, the drawing up of the play, the timing, the shot selection, ANYTHING. He just missed it. That's it.

We can only hope now that Alec still wants to play and lead us to a Pac-12 championship and a Tourny run next year.

Alec damn near dribbled the ball off the back of his knee when he tried to go behind the back...that delayed him in getting going to the basket. He should have been 4-5 feet closer when he pulled up.

Also, why did Cory so easily give up the baseline on the go ahead basket? Andre jumped the pick perfectly, but Cory jumped his high side instead of staying on his lower hip.

All in all, it was a good game, but the big difference was the shot selection after we had gone up 5 late. 3 bad three-point attempts at about the 2-3 minute mark hurt us.

I blame Burks for dancing around with the ball too long before trying to drive in and get a shot and also the defense for letting a guy drive into the basket for a layup to take the lead -- a contested shot that goes in is fine but letting that guy get to the basket was pathetic.

I agree. On Alabama's last possession the rule should have been that there would be no uncontested shots. Play good defense and if you have to foul, then foul--Alabama was awful from the line. There's no reason a guy should be able to drive to the basket at that point in the game.

Yes, we gave up the lead way to easily down the stretch, but I'd have to say the difference was the CU turnovers, especially in the first half. If the Buffs had just taken care of the ball, we win this game pretty easily.

Alec had a good look and missed. I personally would have rather seem him drive to the hoop, but a good look nonetheless (they don't all fall). The more troublesome miss was Cory's just before. He was off balance but he had a real good short look that would have sent us up one. Would have loved to have seen Cory hit that one for many reasons.

fify
That was huge, it wouldve taken the chance to lose on the last possession away, thats cory's bread and butter, cant believe that didnt go down either.

he missed his bread and butter one possession before the final shot we took

oh thought you want that on the last play. I think Levi is a bit better at that shot (rolling floater) and Cory is more of a stop and pull up jumper type guy.

Levi is pretty good at it but cory has made a million of those in his career, with the record and the game pretty much on the line everything was set up for that to go in.

all I can remember is the same situation versus Kansas at home last year and the shot Cory got off was even worse.

Ya that was bad, this teams buzzer beater execution was horrible
end of first half or end of game

Yeah, if Cory stays home and covers the baseline they might have had the 'Bama player trapped on the sideline. Only thing I could think of was Cory didn't see the pick coming.

Thing I keep coming back to was 'Bama getting 2 or 3 offensive boards in one possession with just over 2 minutes left. Killed any momentum as CU had the lead at that point.

there are a lot of bad plays. The piss poor inbound pass by Relly, the 10 or so turnovers in the 1st half. They did outplay us in the final 3 minutes though and won the game because of it.

How about the breakaway that was turned over and turned into an intentional foul on Marcus
